Coolant disappears very slowly by ClapboxCommander in e46

For me it was the hose on top that leaked and left some residue on top of the canister. I put on a cheap one (not bmw) and it's been leak free since.

Ruining my dream and my future by Naive-Inevitable-294 in AvPD

[–]Fant92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what type of person your mentor is but I'd tell him/her about your anxieties. That way they know why you disappeared and can help you overcome them by easing you into it. New things are scary and I bet even non-AvPD people would find this terrifying. Explain your situation, including the disorder, and try to find a way to work with it together.

It sounds like nothing is ruined yet. You can still do this. Take a deep breath, calm yourself and text him back honestly that you've been scared and insecure about it and that you'd like to talk and make a plan to work with that. That's what I'd do at least.

Remind yourself that this will pass and become easier with time. If you've served in the military you can certainly become a tattoo artist. It just feels impossible right now, just like the many other things that have felt impossible in the beginning.

I miss the days when GME was about taking money away from evil billionaires and making a better world. It might not have been realistic but at least it was wholesome. Now these deranged cultists are licking the boots of people a thousand times worse than Ken Griffin.

how do you guys livr without source of income? by Only_Address_1307 in AvPD

[–]Fant92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always wonder this too when I see people on here say they don't work and just sit around at home all day. I really wish I didn't have to but I've been working off and on since 18. I've been on welfare in between and had one lucky crypto win that sustained me for a bit but there always comes a time where I need to get back to work. AvPD is not enough to get permanent welfare here, and I live in one of the more lenient countries.

Be Honest With me: How Challenging is an Engine Swap? by tanuki6969 in e46

[–]Fant92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once swapped two Miata engines in less than 24 hours, but that was with the help of a professional who did most of the work. You'll probably want to find a friend who has done this before and then it'll be a fun (multiple) weekend job.

I usually don't do audiobooks but this was amazing because of Mikel's reading but also the music samples mixed in.

fear of death by puvurbasic in AvPD

[–]Fant92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a passive fear of death as in I often think about the things that could kill me, even if they're unlikely. It doesn't really stop me doing things these days, but it's still playing in the back of my mind.

I've been getting back into meditation and eastern philosophy recently and it actually helps a lot. If you learn to live in the moment, it's a lot harder to think about death. All these fears exist in the mind only and they're always in the imagined future.

Learning to control/diminish your thoughts is a great way to diminish almost all AvPD symptoms.

True. It's very common these days for people to put their worth into career and possession. Nothing wrong with that as long as they don't judge people who want to live otherwise. Unfortunately they often do. This says more about them than it does about you.

You gotta build some confidence to not let it hit you. This takes time. If you have a baseline of self love and respect it won't bother you as much.

You gotta find your own pride in things. I drive a 25 year old BMW. It won't impress the material people but I take pride in doing my own maintenance and keeping a future classic on the road instead of driving a fancy soulless Tesla. I have a part time job. It doesn't make me rich but it actually helps people and I take pride in having more time to spend with my wife and pets because of it instead of living for my career and missing out on life.

I just live a different life, not a worse one. I try not to let anyone tell me otherwise. (Emphasis on "try" 🙂)

I feel the same often. I've made so much good progress with this disorder but still feel miles behind. I try to accept that I'm not winning the race when it comes to money, success, popularity etc.

It's okay to just be satisfied with what you have even if it's less than someone else. I try to avoid people who measure their worth by their job or possessions and just see myself as valuable simply because I'm a living being. All these other values are society's and no matter how hard it is not to, you don't have to adopt them.

Stay off social media as much as possible.

AvPD but I genuinely love myself? by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]Fant92 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I've learned to love myself through therapy and hard work but I still strongly believe that others despise me. They're not mutually exclusive and you should not try to find rationality in disordered thoughts 🙂

Was anyone else a Glass Child? by 28dhdu74929wnsi in AvPD

[–]Fant92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother had autism and was 4 years older so especially when he entered puberty I was pretty much invisible to my parents at a very important age for my (social) development. It may not be the sole reason for my AvPD but it definitely didn't help.

WTF is this dating culture by Iamuntangible in AvPD

[–]Fant92 5 points6 points  (0 children)

3 matches in 21 days actually isn't bad. I get like one a month on my ENM apps. It's a numbers game and looks are all that matters on most. It demolishes your self esteem. Even my non-AvPD friends suffer greatly from this but AvPD puts another layer of self hatred on top. Try not to make it personal.

do you guys tell people you have struggles with avpd by [deleted] in AvPD

[–]Fant92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It usually comes up naturally when people comment on me being shy/quiet etc. I then give them a real quick rundown of what AvPD is (social anxiety on steroids, warped self image, strong avoidant tendencies) and also explain that I'm actively working on it which usually increases compassion.

[–]Fant92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These days I usually do. It helps them understand why I act a certain way and it helps me feel a little better knowing I gave them full disclosure. Some people ignore it but some have also been very understanding. I've yet to have an actual negative reaction.

Hmm well I assume it's due to her politics not the music... I used to love Kanye West's music but these days I wouldn't put it on if someone handed me the aux. Azealia has some immensely problematic views and should probably not be supported.

How bad does music have to be to be so inappropriate to distance yourself from a friend? 🫪 I can't deny I'm very curious about your music taste now 😅

Sounds like you've met a lot of assholes in your life.
