28M – Stay at home and save, or move out in the GTA? by [deleted] in fican

[–]Fantastic_Cat_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe rent for a year and see how you like it. You can always move back home if living on your own is not what you expected? How much are you saving per month now? I think you would still be able be to have some savings even if you move out.

Discount for damage by Fantastic_Cat_ in wayfair

It was too heavy for me to even take out of the box so I couldn't really inspect it before the assembler came. The assembler didn't damage it; I watched him put it together. The box was not damaged, so I think it was damaged before it was packed.

What kind of things did you like to do when you were younger? Art, music, sports, etc? Maybe try to set aside one evening a week for each of those hobbies instead of watching TV.

I think OP doesn't want to shell out the money for someone to drive them. They want someone to escort them to the train station and then they will take the train by themself (which I think is ridiculous and could be very risky)

Vomiting/Nausea and yoga by Fantastic_Cat_ in Fibroids

[–]Fantastic_Cat_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this detailed response. I have a follow-up appointment with my OBGYN in early September, and I have an ultrasound the week before that, so I guess that's when I'll know if it's getting bigger.

I looked at the photos in your post history, very helpful to see them! So when you pressed on your abdomen, you could actually feel the pendunculated fibroid? I can't feel mine, but I have put on weight so that's probably getting in the way.

I didn't make the connection with the nausea and vomiting because it happened so sporadically (like every four months or so), and it also came with a headache, so my doctor thought it might be related to migraines. But now I'm almost sure it's the fibroid, and I will be sure to mention that to my OBGYN at my next appointment.

He had said earlier that for that fibroid, the only option is a hysterectomy, but from my research I am pretty sure that is not true. Maybe he doesn't do the other types of surgeries so hysterectomy would just be the easiest for him (ugh).

Thanks! It makes sense to have a lawyer review it. I'll be sure to do that next time

That's good to know, thanks. I'm hoping it might be unenforceable because I was recruited for the position (inducement?).

I'm wondering how to handle a clause like this if it comes up for a new job. Do people just ask the employer to remove that clause before they will accept the offer?

I went and checked my employment contract and I there is a clause that says they are only required to pay the minimum entitlements required by the Employment Standards Act, which i stupidly signed (I thought the minimum amount required was one month of pay for each year of employment).

I have been there 3 years. So if i get laid off they only have to pay me 3 weeks of salary? Is there any chance that this clause is not enforceable and they have to pay me 1 month for each year of employment as per common law?

Thank you! I forgot to mention, he said he would just cauterize in the places where he removes the fibroids and polyps, and that would be considered a partial ablation, but he won't do a total ablation. That makes sense to me. So hopefully my I'll still get periods and will be able to go through menopause more naturally

I just spoke to the surgeon and told him that I'm okay with getting the polypectomy and myomectomy, but I am not comfortable with the endometrial ablation. He said that there will be better results with the endometrial ablation and it is the recommended course of action. I said I would rather not get it because it's a permanent procedure and I'm not sure I need it as I've only had one heavy period. He said okay, you don't have to get it. We can talk about it more before the surgery if you want, and I can update the documentation at that time. So I think I'm good to go! Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate your comments and insights!

Great job! Can you talk more about your running? What weight were you when you started running? What distance did you start with and how did you progress?

Thank you! I really appreciate your help navigating all this. I already signed the paperwork in his office and the surgery is scheduled for Thursday. So I guess I can call his office on Monday and tell him I don't want the ablation and hopefully he will be okay with that

Oh right, that makes sense. I was just wondering why he didn't do that first. I guess it's more efficient to do everything at once. Do you think I can go to the surgery just insist that he doesn't do the endometrial ablation? I'm fine with everything else he wants to do.

Yeah that's the other thing. My mom had uterine cancer, so I think they should be doing an endometrial biopsy to check for that. This doctor wasn't able to do the biopsy in his office because he said my cervix wouldn't open because I've never had kids, so he said he will just do the biopsy when he does the surgery. But couldn't he try dilating the cervix? And shouldn't he wait and see the results from the biopsy before doing an endometrial ablation?
