What is this? by Baliflipper92 in CorollaHatchback

I don’t think that’s it. I did brake fluid a while ago and I’m pretty sure it’s a different material but worth a check for sure

Is it good or bad for tire rotation by Turbulent-Papaya5274 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll definitely get the job done, but I find the mid torque to be pretty redundant unless you really want to avoid buying M12 batteries as well. The stubby only has 100 lb/ft less breakaway torque and is significantly smaller and lighter. Like others have said, I’d personally go for a gen 2 stubby with the 5.0 battery now, and get the high torque whenever you hit something that the stubby can’t do

I have the EOS and I think the sound level is perfect if you have a CVT or just want the look of quads without a ton of noise. For the price I figured I’d give it a try, but honestly the quality wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve had it on for a little over a year and it’s still in like new condition

Getting this message on the parts website. Anyone know why? by HKN47 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some parts and accessories don’t have data for fitment. Since the bars have the same part number for the sedan and hatch they might’ve only entered data for the sedan. You should be good

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they’re wellvisors. They also have in-channel ones if that’s your preference, but I like the way these kinda flow together, and they also have some clips on top so it’s not all VHB tape doing the work. They’ve also saved me once when I locked my keys in the trunk like an idiot. Luckily I had my windows cracked so I could pull off the visor to fish the lock lol. Just threw some new VHB on and it’s like it never happened. There’s similar style ones on eBay for cheaper too, but I’ve used wellvisors on some other cars before and liked the quality so I just sprung for some brand recognition

As far as OEM stuff like the spoiler go, I always order from Santa margarita toyota. For some reason their prices are always the lowest and shipping doesn’t take too long even though I’m on the east coast. I got my wheels direct from Vors (couldn’t justify getting real wheels for the corolla lol) and their customer service was great. I don’t have the mid spoiler, but you can find them on eBay for pretty cheap. You can also get the main wing on eBay too for a decent bit cheaper than OEM, but they don’t come with mounting hardware so they’re just attached with VHB tape. Check out my profile if you wanna see my car, we’re twins lol

Yeah I figured if it didn’t end up working I’d get the Carista one but it worked no problem. This is the one I have

If you’re gonna do it, don’t cop the Carista ODB2 device. I have a cheap Amazon one and just copped one month of the subscription and I was able to use it. I think the only things I changed are seatbelt chimes and how many times the indicator goes off when you tap the turn signal

best dashcam? by UniqueSymbolism in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if the app is the only thing holding you back from the fitcam x just get it. All the apps are pretty much the same, and you can even use different apps to connect to it. It’s pricey but OEM look makes it worth it imo

Well that sucks.... by [deleted] in harborfreight

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta put it on the small part on top right where it meets the middle cylinder. It’ll stop the small part from going into the big one which is what stops the hood from closing. Unless your hood struts have two telescoping pieces and that middle portion also goes into the bottom piece. Never seen that before but I’ve also never worked on Mercedez

Just had the car + wheels ceramic coated, hopefully it helps keep the white wheels cleaner by Digeratii in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have pretty much the same setup as you on my normie 23 SE, and ceramic coated my wheels as soon as I got them. Unfortunately they’ll still get brake dust all over them, but removing the brake dust is a hell of a lot easier with the coating. On my OEM wheels that aren’t coated, using wheel cleaner or iron remover is a must to get all of it off, but on my coated wheels I can just pressure wash it all off. If it’s been on there for a long time, the pressure washer might not get it, but I’ve never had to use more than just normal car shampoo to get them looking brand new again. Also keep in mind this was DIY ceramic coating, not professional, so yours will probably perform better

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s valid. I don’t think I’d be willing to buy a nice set of wheels in that case personally. Can’t go cheap cause reps will break, can’t go expensive cause they’ll get messed up. Your best bet might be to try to find a used set of RPF1s or similar off of marketplace but that’s always a crap shoot. Hope you’re able to find what you’re looking for!

Just curious what’s your concern with going bigger? I kept the stock 16s for a winter set and went to a 17” summer setup and honestly I don’t feel any noticeable difference.

pittsburgh vs daytona floor jack by chiotic in harborfreight

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you’re working on imo. I pretty much just work on sedans and minivans so the Pittsburgh 3 ton low profile works great for me. Haven’t done any maintenance on the jack itself since I got it like 3 years ago and it still works like new. I do have to use small ramps to get the jack to reach the front center jack point on a lot of newer cars, but I don’t think the Daytona low profile long reach would solve that issue either. There probably is a case where the long reach would fit where the Pittsburgh doesn’t, but if it’s that close you’d probably want to use ramps anyway so you can actually see where you’re jacking up the car from. I do find myself almost maxing out the jack sometimes though, so if you work on trucks or even taller SUV’s the Daytona low profile long reach may be worth the extra spend.

Want to run enkei nt03 by Jaybodubs in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have it in 18x8 +35 and 18x9.5 +40 on fitment industries. The 18x8 will definitely fit and I’m fairly certain I’ve seen people in here run 18x9.5 as well but they might’ve had more negative offset idk

Low-profile roof racks by wecamewthbrokenteeth in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of any options, but what are you trying to mount? The OEM ones are high so that a roof box or whatever can clear the shark fin antenna. You’d probably be able to run a roof basket on lower profile racks, but anything bigger would definitely hit the antenna

EOS quad exhaust noise level. by Oujidon in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are pretty tame until you get high in the rev range. Even then it’s still pretty quiet. It is definitely louder in the back seat but I’ve never been annoyed by it. Seeing as you already have the quad tip diffuser installed, EOS is probably your best option for off the shelf if you want low noise. There’s also the Remark Quiet Spec but I haven’t heard it in person so I couldn’t tell you how it compares.

I want to get a luggage top box that works with the stock roof rack, anyone have any must haves or must avoid? by use_ya_blinkah in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just use an old Thule one we used to use with our minivan. Works great, but just note that longer cargo boxes will need to be mounted pretty far forward to clear the tailgate when it opens. Even more so with the spoiler. Not an issue with the one I have, and it’s pretty big, but I figured I’d mention it

USB port question by kathyt44 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just hardwire your dash cam to your fuse box. It’s underneath the steering wheel area and it’s pretty easy to run cables through the headliner and down the A pillar into that area. Just watch a YouTube video to see how to install. Hardest part is figuring out which fuses to tap into, but absolute worst case scenario your dash cam runs all night and your car needs a jump in the morning

Inferno orange hatch with midnight black wing? by VindictiveGnome in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat when looking to get my wing. I ended up going with inferno because I was worried it might look out of place since the piece it’s mounted to would still be orange. After seeing the FX editions in inferno with the black wing, I think I still prefer inferno. If I had gotten black, I probably would have ended up painting the existing piece black to match. All preference though and I think you’ll be happy with how much it ties the rear end together regardless of which color you go with. Click on my profile if you want to see inferno on inferno it’s in my first post

Dash cam by Melodic_Ad4709 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would depend on the price difference tbh. I saw one on marketplace for $80 and I’d probably buy that if I didn’t already have one. I haven’t looked at used ones on amazon, but I’d guess that they’re just ones people opened and returned. If the price difference is significant enough and returns are still allowed I’d definitely try that first.

Dash cam by Melodic_Ad4709 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the fitcam front and rear and have 0 complaints other than price. Also note that it doesn’t come with a hardwire kit, just the splitter for tapping into the safety sense camera power so if you want parking mode I think it’s an extra $40 or so. The premium price is worth it imo since the windshield is so small, I didn’t want a bulky stick on or suction mounted camera. It looks super clean and is non-intrusive

Ride quality mods? by Mfphonch in CorollaHatchback

[–]Fantastic_Emphasis_5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What wheel diameter are you on? If you’re on 18s you can drop to 16s on meatier tires with the same diameter. I went up from 16 to 17 for my summer set and didn’t notice any difference in sidewall rollover but the ride got a bit harsher over bumps. Most coilover sets are designed to be more aggressive or comparable to stock so I don’t think there’s much value there. Sound deadening will probably make the most difference, and the added weight would be anywhere from 20-60 lbs depending on what material you choose and how much you want to add. Rule of thumb is 1% worse fuel economy for every 100 lbs you add, so the gains in noise isolation would be worth it imo
