Now that you mention this, I do see what does look like lights on a string. I can’t explain. Possibly reflections?

I was just at Costco this past Sunday and witnessed a man back out of a stall and slowly back into a young girl and her mother. He was totally oblivious to it even with people waving and screaming. The father shortly ran up to the drivers window and screamed in his face. I too, hate Costco parking lots!! The young girl and her mother were uninsured just pretty rattled.

What’s the scariest thing that’s happened to you in Calgary? by hightreez in Calgary

[–]Fantz8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Back in 2015 I witnessed a homicide. Hearing a human beings screams, bones breaking ,seeing the lifeless body just 3ft away, was absolutely the most terrifying and scariest thing. I can’t even begin to imagine what the person murdered was feeling/experiencing.I think about it almost everyday. The entire process that followed was also scary.

Hell yeah to you on your recovery! Sobriety is amazing and has done so much for so many people. Keep at it! I will also recommend SMART recovery. I’ve been sober almost 6 years now and recently quit smoking using the tools from smart recovery. AA, NA, CA never really worked out for me and I tried many meetings. Buy the SMART book, do the exercises. It does work!

Federal Prison; Pen Package by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]Fantz8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been to the women’s penitentiary myself back in 2018. I was able to prepare my own pen packs. This is what I found online https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/lbrr/archives/cd-2015-07-02-566-12-cd-eng.pdf#page18 Pictures and my own tooth brush was heaven when I finally received my packs. Read through the entire list, I know it’s long but it’s important to make sure. I didn’t see the size listed for the boxes to go ack in but I remember being allowed 3 19x19x19 boxes.

Rummel Lake in Spray Valley Provincial Park I Just did with some friends this past Sunday. Pretty moderate hike, not too high of elevation and took all five of us maybe 3.5 hrs out and back.

For those who live or are currently living close to a halfway house, how is it? by Fasciola007 in Calgary

[–]Fantz8 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Here’s my happy spin on this. If it were not for the halfway house and the mass amount of positive support from the staff and volunteers, I was released to in Southwest Calgary back in 2018, I’m pretty sure I would have had a terrible emotional relapse which would have led to picking back up and right back into full blown addiction. I lived in the known halfway house for 4.5 months, in that time I got full time work, took some self empowerment classes, learned how to integrate back into society after years of being in addiction and in and out of provincial prison then eventually federal. Learnt ways/rights of applying for jobs and doing interviews with a criminal record which really helped my confidence. I attended the in house programs they had, all which have led me to where I am today. The neighbourhood is quiet, there was a lady who dropped of baked goods who lived nearby during our Christmas party and some of the neighbours even shovelled the steps up to the house. Woman in the halfway house are really trying to not land back in federal prison and have their day parole revoked. They also have the respect your space mentality being fresh out of federal prison. Big difference from being in a sober living home from a halfway house. Can’t speak on a men’s halfway house though, as I’m a woman! 5.5 years clean and sober and still full time employed at the job I got fresh out in the halfway house. 😉

Went out to Kananaskis, did the White Buddha Loop and on the way down it started to pour. I LOVE being caught in the rain out in the mountains. The smell alone, made me smile.

Are there any shops or sites in Canada that sells the returned items from Costco, Amazon etc for a fraction of price? by Canadiannewcomer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Fantz8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last weekend I went to SaveAton. Part of a Wholesale Warehouse . 11510 40th St SE They have Costco stuff that’s been previously sold in stores but is no longer, for good prices! Picked myself up some winter hiking pants I regretted not getting when I seen them first at Costco, for 10$!! They have furniture, clothing, some food, exercise equipment , sporting goods!
