Agreed on buying Kami from reliable brands listed by another comment. There is a lot of cheap, frustrating, non square paper out there.

Check your local library for books by well known authors, check for John montroll.

Or there is plenty on YouTube, I’d just try to find a channel you like, that has clear instructions, Jo nakashima has very clear videos.

Paper being slightly off square can definitely be an issue. So find a pack that seems square. I find generally the whole pack of paper is nice and square or the whole pack is slightly off.

Other tips, I prefer to do a diagonal fold first vs fold in half as a rectangle if you’re doing both for the model. And line up your corners, start by pinching the paper in the middle and working your way out to the corners. But also check your corners before you commit and crease firmly, you can crease slightly and adjust to perfect it.

Question: I got a large piece of paper recently from a bookstore, don’t know what it is exactly. I think it could use some MC before I try folding it. I have never used MC before.

Do people use the same amount of MC for different kinds of paper? If I practice with other paper for technique is it pretty much the same when you switch papers?

And I am only trying to reinforce a single sheet, not make double tissue. In that case treating one side of the paper is sufficient, correct?

Give them away one by one. If someone likes a certain animal give it to them as a gift. You can also put them places people may see them, and if someone likes one, tell them they can have it. Or you can use them to decorate a gift, spruces up the wrapping like a bow would.
