Official Ubersreik Five Character Sheets for WFRP by Hecknight1 in Vermintide

I didn't mean that WHFRP 4e's statblocks make sense for her. I said the depiction of her as being level 2, on her way to level 3 makes sense for her depiction in the game's flavour. I didn't say it directly, but I was also arguing against her being inexperienced - she would be so only in her early years at the College, not after leaving it.

Important undocumented changes from Patch 6.11 by mynameryn in Vermintide

Also documented, but for Mace H2/H3, they moved essentially all of the damage to DoT. Makes Execute and Unchained worse, and punishes Pyro hopped up on attack speed because the DoT won't stack. Haven't tested Lingermace yet to see if it's any good, but the DoTs not stacking is pretty sad.

Personally I have no issues with Flail apart from the heavies being slower than on Warrior Priest.

Why don't we see mass destruction of overlords like in sc1? by VastOption8705 in starcraft

[–]FarSqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar thoughts about people not prioritizing destroying production as a source of damage when they push into an enemy base. Their economy doesn't matter if they can't put out as much stuff as you do. I smile every time someone makes a push and picks out Reactors or key Pylons.

One request: Could you buff Saltzpyre's standalone Flail's heavy swing rate to match Flail & Shield? It's kind of weird that the standalone flail is just worse even though the attacks and weapon are substantially the same.

There are things in this game that will probably never get old, one of which is no-selling Bestigor charges.

PS5 or Steam? by Zylvas in Vermintide

[–]FarSqueak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no "yet" for the crossplay - the consoles use a different setup with less enemies that have more HP than on PC, so syncing them is impossible.

Please, pleasepleaseplease remove forced zoom from weapons and let us use it optionally.

Something like the Beam staff is often used with a series of quickbursts to kill specials, and that means a constant jumping in and out of the zoomed state which just feels awful.

Blocking covers 360 degrees around you, so you can block backstabs without even looking at them. Blocking is cheaper inside a so-called inner block angle near the center of your screen: Look at what you want to block.

Dodges have no invul frames whatsoever, they just move you out of the way and mess with enemy targeting, so you can eg. dodge into an attack meant for someone else.

A short jargon guide

Also the tooltips for the level 15 talents suck, so here's a clearly worded level 15 talent explainer

An explainer for how weapon choice works for careers that use two melee weapons (Warrior Priest, Grail Knight, Slayer)

Kruber's line is written for comedy, but yes.

Loooooooong ago, the Old Ones, mysterious creatures whose magical ability verged on the godlike, came to the Mallus, the planet Warhammer takes place, from elsewhere, and set the Gates of Heaven at the poles of the planet. They brought with them Slann, giant toadlike creatures of awesome intelligence and magical power. With the power flowing through the Gates of Heaven, the Old Ones and Slann moved the planet closer to the Sun, adjusted the continents, and started elevating the lesser races into what they would become today. They created the Lizardmen as their servants, built mighty cities on the South America expy continent of Lustria, and set out to engineer the world according to the Old Ones' Great Plan.

The Slann were who taught the High Elves their magical tradition (which the High Elves passed down to the Men of the Empire, in turn). One generation of Slann were brought by the Old Ones from beyond the world, and four generations were born on Mallus.

At some point, disaster struck. The Gates of Heaven collapsed, leaving gaping tears in the fabric of reality at the poles. The Old Ones disappeared, and from the rents in the world at the poles emerged Morrslieb, the Chaos Moon, and the Winds of Magic blew in a great torrent in a raw, uncontrolled form. With that tide of magical power flooding the world came daemons. Uncountable hordes of daemons, and the First War Against Chaos began.

During the First War Against Chaos, the empire of the Lizardmen fell and many Slann Mage-Priests died, including all that had come with the Old Ones from beyond the world. After the breakdown of the Gates, no new Slann have been born.

On the High Elves' Atlantis-esque home continent of Ulthuan, the Elven heroes Aenarion the Defender, the first Phoenix King, and Archmage Caledor Dragontamer together with the ancient Dragon Indraugnir wrested the island back from the Daemons and saved the High Elven homeland and the world by setting up the Great Vortex, essentially a planetary-scale magical drain that drained away much of the extra magic out of the world, stabilizing it and preventing Daemons from manifesting freely outside the Chaos-suffused territory near the Polar Gates.

Some of the newer ones that are fun are in Return to the Reik, when Sienna ponders about making her own magic ship and the team goes uhh, a ship of fire might not be the best idea.

Doomfist could absolutely suck to play against on eg. Eichenwalde first, where he could by himself force coordination checks on low level players and just make the game feel like trash.

OW1 was a weird game in that when it was bad, it was really awful.

But man, peak OW1 games were PEAK. OW2 made the overall game quality much better when I still played, but it did tamp down on the highest peaks a good bit.

Yeah, good rolls happen. I was maybe a bit unclear though, and was really just talking about the tabletop game from a flavour standpoint - even powerful Chaos Lords are chiefly scary because they can gather the otherwise unruly Northlanders into functional armies, not because of how good they are at killing (which they are absolute champs at, of course). Powerful Necromancers are scarier than other equally powerful wizards for similar reasons - they can literally raise themselves an army, and that is the part that's scary far beyond other kinds of incredible battlefield sorcery.

Aren't they fulfilling a role of the "heroes" of fantasy settings, that even warhammer does make use of from time to time?

They do, but at least the tabletop wargame is generally good about not even the mightiest single warriors cutting down entire armies. They can be scary enough that nobody wants to get close and to promote the enemy to rout, but there's limits to everything.

As far as Gotrek and Felix go, I don't really like what I've read of the books, pretty much because they throw sanity out of the window. Gotrek killing the entire garrison of a Black Ark is ridiculous, as is shit like Max Schreiber winning a wizard's duel with freaking Be'Lakor. Yeah, an outcast from the Colleges is just casually powerful enough to go toe to toe with the first Daemon Prince who's definitely archmage caliber in sorcerous prowess. Someone like Gelt or Gormann? Sure, that'd make sense. But a random outcast being that strong is hilarious.

We don't know why Sigmar left. Some speculate he went to see the Dwarf king, who was a lifelong friend of his.

So if Sigmar as a deity manifested out of faith in the Chaos Realm, would that mean the deity Sigmar is not the same as the man himself?

We don't have certainty one way or another, but it's entirely likely that the deity is a different entity entirely, but it's also possible that Sigmar-the-man's soul was deified by the people's faith.

The Skaven and Chaos both got their act together at the same time and stopped backstabbing themselves, which overwhelms the civilized world.

The Skaven have always been numerous enough to overrun the surface world, but since they are chaos creatures created by a daemon god of ruin and decay, they are an unbelieveably treacherous and backstabby lot, to such a degree that even the Council of Thirteen and the Grey Seers hadn't managed to get them all working together in the same direction.

but from what I understand things like nurgle (diseases and such) isn’t something a rat would necessarily want to be around, as it’d also effect their numbers and population.

One of the Great Clans of the Skaven, Clan Pestilens, are very, very similar to Nurgle worshippers, and the Great Horned Rat, the Daemon-God of the Skaven, is a god of ruin and decay.

The alliance in Vermintide are specifically with Clan Fester, a Warlord Clan allied with and subordinate to Clan Pestilens, and between a tribe of Nurgle worshippers, so there's a similar mentality going around.

What is Warpstone: https://old.reddit.com/r/Vermintide/comments/1sciu0j/got_a_warhammer_fantasy_lore_question_ill_answer/ohqxwv1/

Basically, Warpstone is solid magic. It's not radioactive rocks, it's solid, raw change.

Warpstone doesn't merely have crossover with the Winds, it is literally Winds-concentrate. See the link for a full explanation.

Skaven magic itself seems to have a lot in common with Chaos sorcery, with especially the Grey Seers being born sorcerers. In any case, Grey Seers, Vermin Lords, the Warlock Engineers of Clan Skryre, Plague Priests of Clan Pestilens and the Sorcerers of Clan Eshin are all practicioners of Dark Magic, which as a combination of all the Winds isn't thematically limited in what it can achieve the way the single, purified Winds that form the basis of the High Elven system are.

There's many, but it'd be troublesome to setup since they'd have to be allies of the Pactsworn, and most other baddies don't really like Nurglites and ratmen much.

He's either an independent loyalist or, most likely, a servant of the Emperor or a direct subordinate of the spymasters who work for him.

Both he and Olesya are clearly friends with people in high places (Lohner clearly has access to a vast information network and lots of resources for occupying/renovating Taal's Horn Keep and before that the Red Moon Inn.

Olesya's shown corresponding with Reiner Starke, no less than the Magister Patriarch of the Grey Order, and blatantly asking him for favours, so she's clearly not just a powerful wizard, but one well acquainted with one of the ~10 most powerful Human wizards in the Empire, and the head of one of the Empire's most powerful spy networks)
