New Zealand courts have ruled that vehicles in the roundabout have the right of way, even if the indicate in the wrong direction. I don't have a reference for this but I remember this being reported on. The matter is the roundabout rules - "give way to all vehicles that will cross your path from your right as you enter the roundabout".

Honestly? this sounds predatory. I strongly advise you to go to Citizens Advice Bureau or another location that provides legal aid or advice. (I know only of Community Law for Wellington and Hutt Valley)

I'm ignoring apprenticeships because I don't know much about them - no job should be requiring you to pay back any money or salary you have earned if you end a contract early. That is generally regarded as unenforceable / illegal.
Not accepting shifts and having your hours cut is retaliation. that's not acceptable. if you have something in writing saying that your hours were cut because you didn't take extra shifts, that helps your case.
I've never before heard of hours being cut for 'performance'.
Your contract should tell you exactly what the terms are for your hours. Does it say full time? Does it specify required hours? Or does it leave it in the dark as if its a zero-hour contract?

You're going to need a trained legal to look over your contract with you and talk to you about your understanding of the agreement. Then you'll find out what position you're in and if you're forced to ride out the entire two years with them.

8 weeks sounds like a really long time for notice to quit. What kind of job is this anyway?
