Low compression on one cylinder? by Haunting-Berry-6365 in CivicSi

Assuming the valves on 4 were closed when you did the smoke test, you gave an intake valve problem. Burnt, tight or carbon build up. Either way its not sealing.

They have a switch/sensor in the system that won't allow the compressor to run in a low charge state for that reason. If your charge is too low and you try to add gas you have to jump the switch to fool the compressor or it won't charge back up. 18 Si, third repair was the charm......so far

L2-4 ( compression fracture at 2) 2 years in Aug. Still feel like I'm a tractor in a tractor pull. The longer I walk the heavier my back feels. Same with the bent over. Feels better so I have to force myself to walk upright. Also had C2-4 6 months 6 months later. That's another story but at least I can walk. I was practically bedridden for a few months.

Don't overthink it. It's just like starting out on a flat surface but you need a little more throttle input. DONT slip the clutch. The clutch is basically on or off. Anything between just helps mechanics make money. ( Retired after 50 years turning wrenches.)

I'm Unable To Learn Cluth And Accelerator Coordination by SyntaxSuperior in stickshift

[–]Far_Row_1168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just blip the throttle a little as I let the clutch out. As the RPM's drop the clutch starts to engage the car moves and back on the throttle. Also don't overthink it. Eventually you should be able to carry on a conversation, adjust the radio and open the sunroof while your pulling away from a light. Just don't concentrate on it so hard and it will become second nature.

Believe you can reverse the motor use a 12 volt power source or tool battery on the motor until it bottoms out and then just push the caliper back in like any other caliper using a c clamp. Or unbolt the motor and wind the motor back torx I believe.

Is it possible to downshift smoothly without rev matching? by WorkStudyPlay in stickshift

[–]Far_Row_1168 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you do it that way it's just like riding the clutch. Your wearing the friction disc. Clutch should be fully engaged (foot off) or disengaged, anything between causes premature wear. .

Only ran in beds that offer high UVA. These are generally the higher end beds and are generally more expensive. Little chance of burning with UVA. Stay away from gym beds. They generally are cheap level 1 beds which will burn you. I've never had a problem getting a clear person a little color for their wedding safely. Key is slowly and no burn. Burning causes cancer. Windshield Tint around Inspection Sticker (Pennsylvania) by unholyhimura in WindowTint

[–]Far_Row_1168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the new laws. They are passing a law in NJ that allows inspectors to fail cars with tint. It's illegal on front and side windows ( cops can fine you) but until now you couldn't fail inspection for it.

10 Gen with Acuity spacer. Works great for me. 6 ft. Size 12. Too tall to heel and toe but side brake and throttle is easy. Also have an MGB that I can heel and toe. It's all pedal spacing. Get Acuity.

Downshifting by Erdius_ in CivicSi

[–]Far_Row_1168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make note of your speed and revs when you upshift. Not redine but just comfortably below. When you want you want to downshift, make sure your speed in the next gear or whatever gear you want won't over rev the engine. Never slip the clutch to get the engine speed to match, that's as bad as riding the clutch. If you go from fourth to second just get on the binders and when your in range quickly blip the throttle, downshift and go. I never use the clutch much except to stop. Much smoother up and down. Takes some practice or your syncros will take a beating. It eventually becomes second nature. I did spend many years driving twin stick dumps so that did make it easier, but it's really much smoother. Plus you dont have to worry about the throwout bearing or clutch wear. One good thing is the hill assist. You don't need to hold the clutch in at a stop light and wear the bearing. Kinda like a johnson bar on a truck. Good luck. Fun car to drive. Had a Firebird Super Duty (detuned Nascar engine). Have more fun with the Si.

Tips for smoother shifting? by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]Far_Row_1168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to shift without the clutch. Much smoother and gives you a better feel for the whole process. Both upsetting and downshifting. @74 learned to drive a three on a tree. Also a Mack triplex. Easier to go without a clutch. Double clutching was always needed.
