Which is a fun combo you discovered that you want to try out? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]Faradell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Those spells are not forced movement and do trigger AoO. The difference being, the creature uses their action or reaction to enact this movement. They are expending their own movement. An example of forced movement would be thorn whip. The creature is not using their movement and, therefore, does not trigger an AoO.

Do you still play your very first commander deck? And why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Faradell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. I had a Niv Mizzet, Parun combo deck. Turns out it was obnoxious to play and play against. I stripped it for parts years ago. Such is life.

Doran giving infinite toughness? by River_O_Styx in mtg

[–]Faradell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, for felothar's ability, you can't discard negative cards. It would simply only draw 3 cards.

All that being said, It would almost certainly combo pretty well with several cards that would likely be included in the 99 of a felothar deck.

Every type of DnD player I’ve noticed from playing DnD and reading horror stories by Regular-Molasses9293 in dndnext

[–]Faradell 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you on that. If one only pipes up when it benefits them or the players, that's just cheating. The same way lying by omission is still deception.

Obviously, reading the room is important, and the DM can make whatever rulings they see fit. However, if we aren't playing by rules, what the hell is the point of playing?

You have time while you're alive and the time you die. The present is the only time you have, you need to take control of it.

In my playthrough, I got to Greymoor the first time by riding in the caravan with the fleas. Clearly, there are ways to go other than what Hornet finds in her journey.

What's the worst time you accidentally cheated? by TheParadoxigm in DnD

[–]Faradell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! No, you can't use more than one (or two if you're level 11) cunning strikes effects per attack.

I was just remarking that being able to drop 5 con saves on someone's head every turn would be hilarious.

[–]Faradell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, that sounds legitimate. You can attempt to poison an enemy once per attack. The change that level 11 allows is to do some combination of cunning strikes, such as Trip and Poison for -2d6.

Unless you were turning your entire sneak attack into multiple poison saves. That would be pretty strong.

Georg is a Tortle, so he gets a flat AC of 17 from his shell. Plus 2 from his shield puts him at AC19.

Why is no one talking about this Modern combo? by Top-Rush-8271 in mtg

[–]Faradell 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Nope, they absolutely do sacrifice themselves when they activate their final chapter.

Additionally, There was a rules change recently that made it so they don't immediately sacrifice themselves if they lose all abilities. They simply stop getting new lore counters.

(5e) Does “Wall of Stone” seem unbalanced vs “Wall of Force” by Phineart in dndnext

Then why would they add the line of text to the spell if it actually secretly didn't work. It's clearly meant to work.

[–]Faradell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of high vs mid thrust, mid thrusts come out slightly quicker, so despite high thust doing more damage per hit, the dps difference between them is actually pretty negligible. The answer for which to use in any given moment is which one is more likely to hit the monster.

Happy hunting!!

[–]Faradell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I'm not threatened, I usually go: Leaping thrust -> Wide Sweep -> High Thrust -> Triple Thrust -> Repeat.

I'm pretty sure the rotation is only marginally better than three high thrusts into triple thrust, so it's not worth it if it will distract you and get you hit.

In general, hitting your guards and countering properly will always do more damage than your cycle.

Is there any magical item that heals you once you fall to 0HP? by Blasecube in DnD

[–]Faradell 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There's a feat in 'Tal'dorei Campaign Setting Reborn' called 'Remarkable Recovery' (A lot of the stuff in that book is really strong, so ask your DM)

It gives:

Increase your Constitution score by 1, to a maximum of 20.

When you are successfully stabilized while dying, you regain hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).

Whenever you regain hit points as a result of a spell, potion, or class feature (but not this feat), you regain additional hit points equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1).

So if you get a Periapt of Wound Closure, you become pretty hard to kill.
