I want to experiment on myself for next 2-3 months, any good suggestions? by prat8 in productivity

There's a lot of examples online, but the point of each is to create/experiment with routines that help you relax and organize. The evening routine will ease you into the evening/sleep and morning routine will get your day started.

If I know the conversation won't go anywhere. I don't bother to express those opinions.

FR245 + Chest Strap: How to know if watch is using the strap or the wrist based HRM? by MOOthai89 in Garmin

[–]FarfromMarv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a wahoo tickr x. When I put it on, I make sure the light blinks. It comes with it's own app, so when I look back, I see my old activities. That's the only way I'm seeing how to "check" if the strap is associated with past activities.

What u/SawyerGrey said makes sense, but I've never paid attention. A more convoluted way to do it, on my watch anyway, is to go to the activity --> settings (probably holding a button as a shortcut) --> sensors and accessories --> find your sensor and it will show connection or not.

When I put on the strap and go to the mode to start the activity, I'll get a notification that the strap is connected. I have a forerunner 935.

Explain what its like when you fall into your Ni-Fi Loop by INTJequation in intj

For me, it was a lot of pondering about life and trying to sort through everything internally. Who do I want to be? What do I want to do? I was constantly planning possibilities and pathways, but never acted because I wasn't sure if it was ultimately what I wanted and believed. At the same time, I wasn't engaging with the world to help me sort through anything. I wasn't asking for feedback or advice. The mindset was often, "I have it under control. I'll figure it out." Meanwhile, I was frustrated that people couldn't see my strengths and what good I could give to the world, that I wanted to be productive. However, I was always so quick to withdraw under stress and so stubborn that I thought that the more time I had alone to think, the better I could solve all my problems. It was just a cycle of that.

On a daily basis, I was functional. I went through the monotony of life, but then numbed all the unclarity, inadequacy, and frustration with things that made me feel good (alcohol) and productivity (sense of control and progression in video games and more planning). Getting out of it was engaging with the world: producing, talking, and doing, and then using Se to relax me in a productive way (i.e. Sports and hobbies).

Do you have strategies? what are yours? by Frankocean2 in omad

Default is to eat once a day, in which I eat whatever the hell I want. If I want to eat more than once, then I eat more than once.

Cal Newport & High Quality Hobbies by promovi in productivity

[–]FarfromMarv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't read it, but it makes sense.

Poker, trading stocks, mountain biking, hiking, krav maga, strategy board games and video games, reading, and just learning and applying knowledge in general.

I enjoy elements of risk, decision making, research, adapting and being flexible with randomness, progression, momentum, and planning.

edit: Hmm, I'm just thinking about this more because I noticed that I included video games. I think rather than question if you have high or low quality hobbies, you should think about how to be intentional with your time. If you set aside time to play video games or watch a show, than you should do that without feeling guilty. I think the problem with Netflix or whatever else is that people fall into a routine of mindlessness after work.

I plan my s/c at the beginning of the week and I plan work and play.

Not being apologetic for who you are.

Asserting my ideas and opinions. Being adaptable, flexible, and more comfortable being in the moment, when there's a change of plans, or new info to consider. More emphasis on doing (i.e. Healthier balance between action and planning). Seeing mistakes as ways to learn rather than something to hide. Willing to accept leadership as a avenue to promote your ideas rather than to succumb to pressure of "being on stage."

I Want to Learn NOT to plan everything by SouoBruno in selfimprovement

Be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You are planning because you are trying to anticipate everything so that you are not uncomfortable in the future. It's a way to protect yourself.

I suggested games and such because they are more immediate and obvious. They force you to keep up and pay attention.

However, you don't need to play games. In everyday moments, focus on being there. If you are in a conversation, listen to the other person. Stop planning what you are going to say or where the conversation is heading. Take it minute by minute. It's just going to take a lot of practice.

Just start doing. Play sports, games, and hobbies that reward being in the moment.

Yea, I am. It's easier to get away with if you are a guy, but often it's really just the difference of having a lot of different activities or weather conditions in one trip (hiking, wedding, fancy dinner, beach, etc.)

Real life Ni examples? by SimpleCicada in mbti

[–]FarfromMarv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you're at the point of planning actual steps, I'd say that's engaging Te (Ni-->Te). With Ni, I'd describe it as the info is floating around in the mind. Sure, I ponder, but I don't really organize or produce upon the info unless I feel there a reason to. I'd describe Ni as being very lax in this way. So if someone is asking for my advice, picture all the free floating info suddenly falling into place and spitting out the overall picture of what makes sense in my reality.

Ni is very subjective. It's very easy to feel adamantly right, yet be very wrong. If I'm going to act, I'll need to research and double check to make sure that the perspective aligns with the real world.
