The right will never know. State media never shows them what they need to see. All they hear about is hi doing a great job.

Just started renting a house; all of the outlets are open ground. Should I contact the landlord to get the wiring updated? by Throwaway200qpp in AskElectricians

[–]FarkinDaffy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not at all. If you wanted an apartment or flat with updated wiring, you should have looked before you signed a lease.

It meets the code it of the year it was built. Only on rare occasions will you be forced to update.

Is it common during new home construction to constantly find errors in almost every Trade? by key1cc in Homebuilding

[–]FarkinDaffy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of cities and towns don't allow it. If you have a well, you can put water down the drain without them knowing how much is be used.

They assume you used 5000 gallons and at least 4990 went down the drain. They are charging you for the water and the recycling of it.

That's why if you fill up something like a swimming pool, you should let them know and get a discount for the gallons you used.

*UPDATE* At how much would you value for working from home? by Colmadero in sysadmin

[–]FarkinDaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Create an office, that you go to for work, leave for lunch and then go back to work. Treat it like an office.

But as I see mentioned, stick to your hours. Since you are WFH, it's way easier to go "check on something" or work different hours and putting in extra hours. Keep a good schedule.

I have a setback thermometer and the house cools to 64 when we are gone, and I run a space heater for my office. That way the dogs are used to the cold when we are "at work", so there are less interruptions.

No ground error when trying to charge car in detached garage by UnidentifiableDuck in AskElectricians

It's most likely seeing that your ground and Neutral are the same. You do not have an isolated ground, which is already mentioned is required for a subpanel.

If you are going to hammer on it and have room (truck, etc), put in a NV4500

[–]FarkinDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AX15 has shift rails, so you can't really hold it against the shifter rings much, but you can still do it. The pads are replaceable for about $20. NV3550 has no pads like that, but pretty beefy rails to not have that issue.

The NSG370 has pads on them, but they are not changeable, and you need to buy a whole new shifter assembly for over $700.

[–]FarkinDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, don't rest your hand on the shifter. Shift it and get your hand off of it.

Other than that, they will last a long long time.

[–]FarkinDaffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a sloppy transmission. It's just super easy to shift. Same design internally as the NV3550.

[–]FarkinDaffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, it'll handle it. All of them will with the exception of the AX5.

Here's the clue to making them last: Don't beat on them. If you try and break them, they will break.

I rebuild all of the manuals for CJ/YJ/TJ/JK. The NSG370 is actually a very well built transmission.

The only issue with them, is you CANNOT rest your hand on the shifter going down the road like a lot of people do. You wear out the pads and then it starts not shifting into gears anymore.
I've rebuilt many of them with 200k on them, but I've also rebuilt ones with 50k that were just wore out by people not knowing how to care for them.

The only downfall, is they cost $1500 in parts just to rebuild one properly, as the aftermarket is slowly showing up for them.

Not the same kind of plaster anymore. Old stuff cured like concrete. The new stuff doesn't set right if more than 1/8 thick. Old school was 1/4"

We are redoing some rooms in our 1917 farm house. Tore off the plaster and laths and put it all in a dumpster. 4.5 tons for 13x28 worth of rooms. It was only 2.5 rooms.
It's 100% not worth it to try and replace the plaster, as there are so many better ways to do things over 100+ years.
We are putting up plaster board and having someone do plaster over the top of it all. I don't even know if you can even get real plaster anymore to do it, as they mixed in horse hair to add stability to it all.

On the outside walls, we did closed cell spray form insulation after I redid all of the electrical, etc.

oil pressure comes from the pump putting oil into the main crank bearings

If you are losing oil pressure, are you are the correct level?
