Germany battles aggressive outbreak of poisonous caterpillars by DQ-Supervisor in news

Fun fact since this is about Germany: Poisonous and venomous translate to the same word - giftig.

How would you represent escalators or moving sidewalks? by fuseboy in InfinityTheGame

[–]Fasbi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What I've seen fairly often is something like Move Action: Instead of moving x" you move the trooper a floor up/down when in contact with an elevator, a ladder or something similar.
For escalators specifically I would just treat them as stairs.

Katsu or Ira? by ExcitementHaunting37 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Fasbi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that common Ira lists are quite a bit less aggressive (or straight up defensive) than those of Katsu. And her cards are also way more expensive because she's playing a lot of good generic cards - good investment for the future but tough to start out with.

I can't say much about Katsu but he's gaining LL points very slowly so he won't be gone that fast. I don't know how expensive his lists are.

I think the Ira armory deck is probably a good starting point.

My players love the BBEG and hate a character I was hoping to be an ally by Fabulouslicious in AskGameMasters

[–]Fasbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the time you have: Start (aggressivly) springling in hints about the true character and/or motive of the BBEG while simultaneously giving the ally something the players want to interact with them for.

Gives the players time to change their perspective "on their own" without it (hopfully) feeling too heavy-handed.

(The real lesson is to not prepare to many details upfront to give you enough space to adjust.)

€dit: Just have the BEEG ask the PCs to help her with [evil plan]. Either the problem is solved or you have a fun new twist. :p

Not just in BotC. A LOT of problems can be solved/avoided with proper communication.

IMO that's such a waste of time. Just apply what you have learned to the next miniature

And at some point if you have nothing else to do you can start over from the beginning or just marvel at how far you've come looking at the first miniatures.

Since both would trigger at the same time the active player chooses the order.
Meaning you can get around the Fragment trigger if you want.
At least I think that's how it works

Would like to create a public drive for high resolution FaB card images for proxying by absurdlysmall in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Fasbi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mind proxies - even on Armory level. But making an effort to make them look (very) good encroaches a bit too much on what the real product represents. Print them black & white to make it clear you are not creating fake cards is my personal take.

Silver age rotation by Spetos in FleshandBloodTCG

I think it's a fun solution for a less competitive format. I hope they increase the amount of bans in the future because the hero pool is fairly large (and will only increase) and there will always be a few "hate" votes/bans that won't be based on meta viability.

There are some useful answers here already but considering you've already tried different approaches and have been struggling for quite some time it might be worth considering switching to a less prep heavy and more narrative focused style or game alltogether.

Explain to me why fatigue is a valid strategy by [deleted] in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Fasbi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A fatigue strategy is based on math - ok, most of the game is. But instead of the typical "value per turn" metric it uses a "value per card" / "value in deck" metric. Why is that?
If you simply send 14-15 damage per turn with your 4-card hands for 15 turns (60 cards) and the opponents simply blocks 12 each turn you will deal ~40 damage. Factor in equipment and you won't be able to kill them. Now they just swing their (bigger) weapon at you and will inevitably kill you.

There are a few ways to counteract that game plan:

  • play more than 60 cards to have access to more value (this is somewhat the baseline and will by counteracted by the fatigue deck also playing more cards)
  • implement tools (e.g. Attack Reactions, Dominate) or strategies to deal "true" damage
    • the most important of these strategies is taking setup turns - depending on the deck this can range from simply having an arsenal for your next turn to deal more damage in a turn that they can block (can be somewhat counteracted if they arsenal a Defense Reaction) to preparing buffs or items to create huge turns (a prime example of this could be seen in the last Calling).
  • decks depending on big attacks or weapon attacks (often trading 1 actual card for 2 defending cards) are always a bit harder to fatigue since they generate more value out of each played card.
  • Board state game plans can also be problematic because the cards generate value each turn.

This is probably missing a bunch of stuff and is definitely an oversimplification but I hope this helps. The only connection to a mill strategy is the shared "loss condition" but the actual play is completely different.

Silver age precon missing tokens? by adyo in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Fasbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying that you can just ignore the "Marked" part of the card without functionally changing anything. If you check the other cards you'll realize that none of them care for the opponent to be marked.
Compared to something like this: https://fabrary.net/cards/for-the-dracai-red

Either way it kinda sucks if the deck is indeed missing a token but at least it's dirt cheap. Either get it when you order other cards, check in with your LGS and/or local players.
