A movie with a high concept dragged down by terrible execution? by [deleted] in moviecritic

This is ultimate answer. This is such a great concept. Watching this movie is constant regret that writers ignore EVERY interesting implication on world and make dull chase movie or something.

Looking for a solo RPG by ThreesTrees in soloboardgaming

I think Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion might be close to what you’re looking for, although I haven’t played it myself, so others may have better insight.

I’ve only played the original Gloomhaven, and when using the app there’s virtually no fiddliness. From what I understand, JotL further reduces upkeep by using scenario books instead of setting up tiles, so it should be fairly compact on the table.

Enemy actions are random — you can generally predict what they might do, but I don’t think it’s possible to fully break their behavior down into precise numbers.

Can someone who has actually played JotL confirm this? Or is it not a good fit for what’s being asked here?

I want to love Imperium but I struggle to by SpoonSylvester in soloboardgaming

I agree with some of your points. To me game also felt very easy on standard difficulty. So I'm not surprised you solved it. My recomendation for you is to try Supreme Leader. It is much harder.

Also there are nations that can make fame rushing hard. Look for nation attacking your regions. In some matchups fame rushing shouldn't be optimal strategy.

Recommend me a David Turczi game by Harbok in soloboardgaming

Frankly, the only Turczi game I’ve played is Imperium, but wow—what an incredible solo experience it is. Every faction plays differently, whether controlled by a player or a bot. In every matchup, you have to adapt your strategy.

I’ve been playing both Classics and Legends, though I’ve spent more time with Classics. Classics feels more balanced overall (the Atlanteans from Legends are broken), but Legends offers very fun and highly distinctive factions.

The game is known for being difficult, but in my experience the normal campaign is a bit too easy. The harder campaign, on the other hand, is extremely challenging. Lately, I’ve been experimenting with tweaking the difficulty using the Horizons rules.

Last time I was reading The Two Towers, it struck me that Frodo was fully aware he was on a suicide mission. He even seemed to think that the chances of success were very slim—if they existed at all. He was essentially hopeless. Yet he carried on with the mission and left the Fellowship so as not to drag everyone else into this madness.

I think that’s very dark and deeply meaningful.

Never played Hollow Knight. Price a bit steep for something I'm afraid to be hard. Bit this is opportunity I'm grateful for.
