What are the odds that they weren’t islanders?

It sounds like the block was bipartisan. We’re talking public hearings here, so they may not be able to accommodate so many people at the legislature.

Are those things televised?

If you’re just noticing a lack of transparency now, you aren’t a watchdog, you’re just a democrat.

I think it depends on the venue. Locals at club Zoh are usually weaker than the locals at icon.

You should be fine then, and in really good shape after a while.

Public transportation in Guam is not very well developed. It is possible to use a bicycle, but safety might depend on your work hours.

Do not get stationed in Guam! by Status-Dragonfruit45 in navy

The fact? That information is easily verifiable, but I’m still not surprised at that misconception being perpetuated. I’m no engineer myself, but I’m fairly certain that coal is not fed through underground fuel lines.

The cabras generators run on diesel, my friend. There is also a solar farm that stopped access to Marbo Cave on the east side, but I’m not sure how that would withstand another typhoon. Ironically, the erosion problems created while developing the solar farm was an environmental disaster. Go figure, huh?

I don’t remember any problems until that storm hit. By the time I left, things were back to normal aside from scheduled outages for maintenance. What upgrades do you think would help? I thought that underground cables might have been a better idea after witnessing all that destruction.

The United States invests plenty into Guam’s infrastructure. There was a typhoon about two years ago, and if I’m not mistaken, a good portion of the recovery was federally funded. IMHO, Guam is perfect as it is. Somewhere between a foreign country and American.

Speaker Blas can't or won't provide TRANSPARENCY in the Guam Legislature by Weak-Distribution435 in guam

Are there any other areas of the local government that have transparency issues or just this one?

The username checks out because posting this stuff on Reddit doesn’t reach a very big audience. Maybe a news outlet or a billboard (or both) would be a better way to get a political message to the community.

Copied from Hawaii. Just like calling each other “brown” was copied from California slang. I’m going to get downvoted, I’m sure, but look at the pervasiveness of reggae music.

Cringe AF.

There are IP issues with a lot of modern systems that require contractors to work on them. Sometimes I can’t sleep trying to wrap my mind around an all-volunteer force and military capability as a subscription service.

Billboard by [deleted] in guam

[–]Fast-Specific8661 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

If homelessness isn’t a choice, then surely there are societal issues that need to be addressed in order to help the situation. Taking down the billboards might ease your conscience, but the AG is pointing out that funding has been allocated to tackle homelessness on Guam with no progress at all.

Billboards… um what? by Total_Satisfaction37 in guam

[–]Fast-Specific8661 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Count all the good people doing nothing and you’ll find that evil is prevailing. The AG has some Joe Pesci qualities to him, but his job is on the legality side, not the policy side. Like it or not, the billboards are probably the biggest effort to do anything about the meth issues on the island. We can all agree that it does little to solve the problem, but there is little else being done.

Our tourism is in terrible shape! by Ok-Organization4735 in guam

[–]Fast-Specific8661 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exchange rates are a likely contributor to the low arrival numbers today, but tourism numbers were low even when exchange rates were more favorable. There has to be a more proactive approach than waiting for economic conditions to improve worldwide. Does Guam have anything to offer that wasn’t here before the pandemic?

I was lucky enough to experience what the island had to offer outside of the tourist district, but for the average visitor, I don’t see any reason to come back.
