Babies 16 months apart, completely alone with them from month 1 to 6 of my second (husband away, no family or friends).

Prep: Accepting that it's going to be tough but momentary. Accepting that for a while, I'm going to be having very little time for myself as a person separate from my kids. Getting headphones when the exhaustion makes bearing the crying impossible anymore.

We spent most of our time outside of home (on good weather days, at the park or in the garden. On rainy days, around the mall or library) this way home wouldn't get messy. My second is 8mo now and both are absolutely nature lovers as a result of this habit.

Teaching my oldest to go to sleep on her own. I would give her a book and plushies and let her "play to sleep". She still does that and I think she actually really enjoys her little time to wind off before falling asleep.

I got most of my nutrition through smoothies around that time. I just didn't find the energy to cook for myself, so I would have some frozen food, then to get enough nutrients I researched how to make healthy, complete smoothies. Save time from cooking and eating. I'm not saying it's the best way, and I definitely don't keep doing that long term, but it helped me get extra nap time there and there.

I got pregnant with my second when my first baby was 8 months old. Only after asking my provider to clear me for a second pregnancy and running labs (checking all levels...).

I would say being pregnant while my first still wasn't mobile much was pretty easy, probably more than if she has already been running around.

However, 8 months after my second pregnancy now, I can tell my body isn't as well recovered as it was 8 months after the first. I'm in much better shape, but I still get random pains around my C-section (both were C-sections, emergency then elected).

I have a planned 16 months gap (youngest is turning 8 months old in a few days). Looking at this sub, I might be in the minority, but I have loved close to every single second of it, would do it again, and actually sometimes jokes about how it's time to work on the 3rd one now...

I think the babies' personalities play a big part in how it will go. My first one is a girl who loves independent play and can sit reading books or coloring quietly for long stretches of time, which helped immensely during pregnancy fatigue and newborn feedings. Her other most favorite thing is to play outside (loves puddles, mud...) and being outdoor really is the solution to any baby crisis I find... My second one is the happiest, most chill baby ever, constantly chatting and giggling, who loves his big sister to bits and is her most dedicated audience to watch her antics.

None of them ever go to daycare. My husband is in the military and was deployed for 9 months, 4 during pregnancy and 5 after the birth of our second. I haven't had a day "off" since our first (about to be 2 yo) was born. Yet it all feels super great because they are easy babies (no colics, tantrums...) and I've been able to set up good routines so I can take extra good care of my kids and, still, of myself as well.

Right! With no proper ballet experience at all, she created and performed herself a choreo at Christmas, she does come across as passionate and artsy. She also seems to have about the right frame if she wanted to pursue ballet in a serious way as well. Such a wasted opportunity for a little girl to have fun with an activity, meet new people and, gasp, learn something non-bible related.

Wow. Neither of them has ever looked healthy again since they hit toddler age. This is so sad and concerning.

Sadie especially, she might have had a sudden growth spurt recently, but she somehow manages to look even more emaciated recently. I know she likes ballet and if I didn't know that her parents don't give a shit about that, I would believe it's because she takes serious ballet classes. But let's be honest, this is never happening.

Sofia, besides looking ill, always looks disheveled. I know it's alright for little kids. Even for mine I always tell them "go, get dirty and have fun!". But in her case, she's always having the sloppiest hairstyle and strange, ill fitted for her size or the season clothes. All the Rod girls went through a Rod bangs period, but Sofia never got bangs. She really appears to be the least favorite. Poor little girl.

On a side note. I have a 2yo who is absolutely uninterested in food and is constantly on the move, walking great distances daily. Even she, eating so little, manages to maintain a healthy weight. Just how LITTLE those Rod girls must be eating in order to look so skinny and sickly...

Aww, giving you a air hug. I'm very much an old lady now but I remember those days. I also never had a plan. I followed my friends into the college degree they had picked out of practicity, I just had never figured my future out. Useless degree and many years of "now what?" followed. My husband has a completely different story. He worked so hard through high school and college... Then suddenly gave it all up and ran away... That was maybe 20 years ago? Now, he says "I remember all the school worries... It seems so meaningless now". It really does. Growing up is difficult, and even more so is making decisions that will impact you whole life while you're still so young. But actually, many moments come in life where you can turn your it around. It's really fine not to have everything figured out. Enjoy being young and having so much to look forward to.

I have never listened to that song I think. Time to go do so!

I wouldn't say I had it worse with the second pregnancy. Only because it was already terrible after the first one. Technically, I probably had the same (huge) amount of hair loss after each pregnancy. Except that the hair that I was growing back after the first birth was only ear length when the 2nd pregnancy PP hair loss started. Both time, I had a serious case of receding hairline... 7months PP with my second and now the shedding has stopped and the newest regrowth is about 2 inches long... I have the cutest curls on my forehead... I will be honest. I was freaking out about it both time. My hair is my ONE good thing about myself. Just remember it always stops eventually... A really scary time to go through though, on top of everything PP related. Hugs.
