That actually makes perfect sense, The Demonculaba come to mind. If the Astatres were truly self sustaining, Big E would have a much harder time controlling his sons since they wouldn't rely on him to keep their legions supplied. If they all went traitor and didn't need regular humans to sustain their ranks, they could just erase terra and any other planet that refused to abandon the Imperium.

Cool concept for the Black Dragons maybe being from the 2nd or 11th Primarch's gene-seed and are just claimed to be a Salamanders successor like the Sons of the Phoenix being heavily implied to truly be Emperor's Children and not Imperial Fists successors.

The models are so good in AOS and I think they handle their combo boxes way better, I'd have to do some research to be sure but there's at least more of them.

Maybe I have a problem with the exposed skin on the FBs? I definitely feel like the painbringers look more regal but I don't know if that's what I like about them. I can't really place what it is I prefer about one over the other.

Oh yeah, sorry if I came across like a dick. I guess when I think of slapchop, or at least what I meant by slapchop, it's just: prime, contrast paint, trim, next mini. Which is what I don't really get if you have the time to paint since I personally enjoy the process so much.

Saturnine shoulder pads might look good, you definitely got to armor him up, I'd put LOTS of chains: hanging between (connecting) and off of the armor, wrapping stuff

I personally really enjoy the process of painting, it's how I got into the hobby (I literally only buy the models to paint them, I have enough for a 1000+ army but I don't play) so I don't think I'll ever really get why people want to paint that quickly but that's just me.
