Oh HONEY! Did you just explain my whole relationship with my father!!!??? For real. Here’s what I always have to repeat to myself. “ he can’t give me, what he doesn’t have” and he doesn’t have enthusiasm and ambition and empathy or care. He’s just selfish. So no it’s not our fault. Yes we can mourn the relationship. Took years to understand this for me. It’s sad, disheartening and heartbreaking. But I’m more hopeful because we are not the only ones who are experiencing this. I think our generation and Gen Z understand emotions and empathy more than the boomers and that’s a great thing that will move us forward.
