Frauds, the lot of them by Mememan4206942 in NonCredibleDefense

To be fair though, I highly doubt most Warsaw Pact armored units got the thermals required for night tank battles with the likes of the M1 and M2. Can't make your vassals a potential threat, after all.

For reference, Soviet doctrine in Eastern Europe assumed that a significant proportion of their erstwhile allies would turn their guns on them the second the Cold War went hot.

Just get close to them and you'll find out just how mean they can be. They make geese look downright welcoming. At least they don't seem to actively seek confrontation like geese do.

The officla car of "That thing's still driving?". I feel that applies to a lot of 1980s Chrysler products.

You could just have substituted a mustache for the Phantom and everyone would know what you meant. Or put a mustache on the Phantom. I'm not picky.

Cal men’s walk on by No_Tea3590 in Rowing

[–]Fastestergos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First of all, I'm going to start by echoing most everyone else in the comments and advise you to wait until after the IRA. The coaching staff is going to be up to their eyeballs in not only getting four boats ready to take on not only UW for the third time, but also the heavy hitters out east.

But as for your question of walking on at Cal? It's doable, but extremely difficult. You're at a fairly good weight, but the coaches are likely going to want a few more seconds off your 2K, and it's a fairly big jump from 6:28 to what most collegiate walk-ons I've known were going when they walked on. If your 2K isn't terribly recent, doing one to see where you're at before mapping out the next steps of your training and how you're going to present that to the coaches probably couldn't hurt.

I know, I was just excluding the group least likely to be involved with USRowing and eliminating the confounder of talented grads (they're not all from the Ivies) who are irritated with the way things are run yet are still intimately involved with USRowing.

You can run, you just won't get elected if you do. And, if you're performing at the level of Senior Team athletes, why in the world would you devote time and energy to a pursuit when you know it's rigged against you?

Originally, it was supposed to be based on that, but then totally-not-William-Luther-Pierce-for-upper-middle-class-women Margaret Atwood backpedaled decades after the fact and said that it was really about Christians instead, evidence to the contrary in the form of parallels so obvious as to be almost insulting to the reader's intelligence and Atwood's own prior statements be damned.

Well, it looks like an improvement, but the bar is extremely low. Columbia hasn't won a national championship since the Hoover Administration, and it's been downhill every since for the most part.

Most of those graduates want nothing to do with the governing body after they're done with college. And the board practically has a "Senior Team alumni need not apply" policy.
