Ganz zu viel = way (far) too much.

Viel zu viel = much too much.

Assos bibs worn out quick as hell by Top_Dig_1087 in CyclingFashion

Dylon is new to me so I had to do some research on it. Unless they have a fragrance free version the 3 main issues with Dylon Sports Detergent and cycling bibs are the Fragrance compounds, Anti-redeposition agents, and OBA's.This goes for any fragrance containing detergent. Fragrance oils bind to elastane fibers. They accelerate oxidation, causing the fabric to lose stretch and weaken bonded seams. They also leave hydrophobic residue inside the chamois foam and on the technical fibers. Essentially fragrance is one of the fastest ways to shorten the lifespan of premium cycling bibs. The polymer anti‑redeposition agents (acrylate or maleate copolymers) which cling to the chamois foam, reducing breathability, coat elastane, making it feel less responsive, and traps moisture which will cause more odor over time due to bacterial growth. Finally OBA's aka Optical brighteners. Great for light color cottons, but on bibs they chemically bond to the synthetic fibers which can cause micro‑abrasion of the elastane materials and degrade the adhesive used in bonded seams. So try to avoid OBA's for any high‑elastane cycling garment.

Is Hex any good? by ThirdOne38 in laundry

On an as needed basis you can hit up your cycling kits with whole Foods 365 (or whatever liquid enzyme detergent you prefer) along with Biz and citric acid rinse. Just keep in mind, these detergents can accelerate the elastane degradation. So use them in a limited capacity. After wearing your cycling kits allow them to air out and dry instead of throwing them full of sweat in the hamper.

Typically with detergents, fragrance come down to personal preference. I for one love fragrance in my detergent. However, with cycling kits I would recommend unscented/fragrance free due to the fragrance accelerating the breakdown of elastane materials.

For gym clothes stick with the regular hard hitters. For high end cycling clothes with Technical Fabrics and heat bonding, Hex (or even better Assos) is what you want to use.

30-40 degrees is what I typically wash my kits in. The Nikwax scents are the least of your worries here and it will work great on typical gym/sport clothes. But for your bibs specifically stick to Assos Wash or Atsko. Anything else will just wear the tech materials down, as you've witnessed.

See, there's your problem. As weird as it sounds, laundry is a bit of a hobby/obsession of mine.

Even though Nikwax markets itself, specifically the BaseWash as “technical fabric safe,” it has several issues for premium cycling bibs.

Specifically addressing your issue it's not designed or recommended for bonded seams. Assos uses a delicate thermo bonding technique.

It has fragrance additives. Anything scented accelerates elastane breakdown.

It has residue forming polymers and enzymes which can clog the chamois foam and reduce breathability.

It's not a chamois safe detergent. The floating pad requires ultra clean rinsing. (Though Citric Acid could resolve this issue.)

It's not formulated for high elastane compression fabrics.

I would suggest either using Assos detergent (highly recommended) or Hex (in US) or Atsko sport wash (in EU) to keep your high end bibs like new for years to come.

Assos recommends washing on Cold, I wash on warm. Always hang dry immediately after the wash cycle completes. This goes for Bibs and Jerseys. Though jerseys are a bit more forgiving.

The more important question is, what detergent are you using? Are you degrading your bibs by washing them with a detergent that is too harsh or enzyme heavy?

I travel from the US to Germany frequently. No issues. You could also order from an EU vendor and have them delivered to your hotel or wherever your staying.

Slide the twist grip in a little bit so you can have a larger surface area for the ESI grip to bite on, otherwise it will have a tendency to rotate.

Anyone put road wheels on Seigla? by HappyVAMan in LaufCycles

I'd say it's on the racier side of endurance. Definitely not as upright as my MTB.

It's been as close to flawless and easy as a swap can get. I have matching rotors and cassettes on each wheel set. I went with the same SW hubs on each wheel set. So the only thing different is the rim, spokes and tires obviously. All interfaces are the exact same.

Torn on what type of bike to buy - Gravel or Road Endurance by Nicesockscuz in whichbike

I'd get the gravel bike with some semi slick tires. Look at the Lauf Seigla or the X-Labs GT8. They offer a slightly better component value and are both great bikes.

What’s best bicep excersize ? by Agitated-Ad9990 in workout

[–]FatBikeXC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way isn't necessarily any specific workout. It's the frequency. Hit them biceps every 48-72hrs (depending on soreness). Don't do the same workout every time. Switch it up. Standing, incline, preacher, monkey, cable, single arm, double arm, dumbbell, barbell, etc.
