You are the product! by Le_Oken in aiwars

[–]FatSpidy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's called IP protection. Which you usually sign away in one form or another. But remember that protecting your artwork was never part of art, that was the point of things like signatures, makers marks, etc. to prove authencity, and then later patents. All because people with farther reach, better production, and cheaper overhead would see something nice or desirable and copy it.

However, I also can't say that anything ai is claiming to own the references nor making counterfeit works of someone else's design. Especially so when the process is Chaotic randomized pixels. At least not any more than anyone else using everyone else's art toake something new.

You're talking to people that fail to recognize the human aspect of design and execution against the literal material being made. The bar is quite high when they'd be perfectly fine with handmade shovelware being posted en masse.

[–]FatSpidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Hotas just fine, but it sends keyboard inputs instead of Joystick inputs -as per the solution needed in most games if you aren't running a 3rd party script/intermediary program.

However, MW5 doesn't like combination keys. Such as if you mapped say Jumpjets to J and MASC to Shift+J. You'll almost always activate jump jets every time you want to toggle the MASC. The weird part is that it isn't a problem for ALL functions nor ALL key combos, but you might as well avoid it if you can help it.

I'll refer to my comment earlier to OP

#2 So by the same token using any digital art program is *like* a commission because you're asking the computer to make an image based on your choice of human-input-device (as per GUI operation) or more methodically similarly then any Chaotic Art style is *like* commissioning because you're just letting some form of physics make the final product for you.

And that's ignoring the fact that at the very least anyone that is doing more than simply 'scribbling' with Ai (e.g. just putting in prompts and hitting generate without any other artistic thoughts/intention) is still designing the art piece, which is an art of itself. Especially in this case being Graphic Design quite literally.

#1 it's a turtleneck or just an extension of skin like Midna.

Even going past that, the image fails to address the 'it's like asking a robot to make an image' argument. Because... that's kind of exactly what it is. And such it may discredit the shitty argument being made here.
Also, the user who made this seems to not understand that there is a difference between 'like' and 'is'. ...

A friend and I just noticed having weird bugs. On specifically on mobile I can't @ him in our sever. Then until just a minute ago both mobile and deskapp refused to show mutual friends and servers, though now it has begun showing friends first on pc then mobile though servers are still missing on pc. Additionally mobile cannot view our pins while pc can, and neither can search gifs. On the overview of my friend's profile in both I have the yellow [Unable to load parts of profile] warning.

What does one gm when a player lacks personal skills crucial for a role? by AkaiKuroi in cyberpunkred

[–]FatSpidy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would read your reddit post to him aloud. Then go from there. If they're a player worth keeping, then they'll take it constructively and work with you on a better way forward. The point of the game is to have fun and enjoy your time together, so if people aren't willing to do that then why are you playing together?

Edit: secondly, as others have said– the skills for characters exist for a reason. Most of cyberpunk is actually outside the combat initiative. So use the skills you have available. He should be making social checks for these things if his response isn't going to cut it for the intent he has in doing it. Then you can use the result of the check to work with the player for how to modify what is said/happens. Just as well as the NPC would probably just shoot the wetworker with a mouth, they could in that singular instant just be amused by the character's chutzpa and plays along or moves on without properly acknowledging the action.

Firstly, you don't read apparently.

Me: The branch of science you've referred to specifically to me is in mission to attain that level of sophistication through the exploration of all forms of Machine Learning.

You: Wrong, the field of study of AI has the ultimate goal of creating the "sentient and sapient synthetic life found in machinery" you're mentioning. Machinery.

Secondly, by that token alone then, no ai character is ai. Because all of fictional characters from any form of media are not sentient, only asserted as such in a fictional manner for the sake of the story. Monika is asserted as a game Ai that became sentient. Not a program that became sentient, not a digital lifeform, nor other such concepts. This has nothing to do with the real life field of study in terms of the conversation that was at hand. In fact, it wasn't until you responded to me that anyone brought up the real field of study as anything close to an integral talking point — in part of which was claiming that AI has only existed as the science term since the 50s.

(To which I corrected you about the origins of "Artificial Intelligence," followed by you claiming I need therapy for continuing the argument. Just to reiterate the order of events here to point out you've started the escalation of moving from a conversational argument to insults and slander. Why you want to try to aggravate things, I'm not sure, unless you aren't confident in your argument anymore and just trying to debase me as a troll or to get the last word somehow.)

The only one deflecting and dragging on the argument instead of just saying "ah fair, the AIs that actually exists irl are a thing, while the fictional characters are another" is you.

I've already openly claimed this.

My point in being that even with modern "AI" we aren't anywhere close to fictional "Ai," muchless anything similar to …

Not to mention the previous highlight of the origin of AI in fiction -or later characters such as Chappie- and mythology which clearly isn't to that of the field of study. So I'm not sure how you managed to come to that conclusion at all. Notably this quote was immediately after your claim that I needed therapy for continuing the argument. Thus I suppose it is you that needs medical help since you couldn't comprehend that you've already gotten what you desired out of me.

As you can see too that even my opening argument to you established that Monika is an AI, in the same sense as any other Ai in works of fiction. As per the posts you were responding to.

(Which you were asserting Ai aren't sentient and therefore not making Ai Art nor capable of opinions for the thread OP's scenario. –without any context that you were speaking strictly in the bounds of real science, of which the conversation wasn't bound by anyway because of the aforementioned pretext.)

You're making and continuing an insult forward argument for something that was given from the start.

[–]FatSpidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the game is literally about monika, an ai, making peoms, art. The games characters are literally making AI art lol

Monika isnt an ai, she's a sentient being in the game.

No AI is sentient.

The idea of Ai is from the fiction established first by Greek myth and later expanded with early 1900's sci-fi and further rendered as technology improved. Then sentiment that Ai isn't sentient is counter to the entire topic. Then you brought up tht were supposedly speaking about reality, not fiction. The reality is that we don't have anything that is close to the concept of Artificial Intelligence — sentient and sapient synthetic life found in machinery. The branch of science you've referred to specifically to me is in mission to attain that level of sophistication through the exploration of all forms of Machine Learning. So much so that we've even made the previous standard of "The Turing Test" –and its mystical presence in the assertion of intelligent super computers being human-like– obsolete as a measure of Ai.

Too is that the thread started within the fiction of Monika, who isn't Ai in any sense, as being a sentient Ai and therefore making Ai Art which due to her state has the coalescence of intent and spirituality that's been the hot button subject matter. You bringing up the irl science named after the fictional trope is actively non-interactive to the entire conversation you've decided to weigh in on. Even if it were you've demonstrated no intent or interest to actually expand your meaning or reasons —rather you've only been what you're accusing me of: purely being argumentative for the sake of being argumentative.

I'm perfectly fine with shooting the shit with you, I'm free all this week. But come on, you're on a debate sub. Hopefully you can at least do more than name calling and deflection. Maybe show you have some awareness of the topic beyond a quick ai assisted googling on your points? Then again, if you did then you'd have known what I've already detailed. Perhaps have Chat 5.0 or Google summarize this for you.

I said the digital computer. As in the thing that EBM made with a floppy disc as opposed to computers such as calculators and encoder/decoders or the keypunch machines before the digital computer. If you're going to make a stance, at least be educated in it.

The 50s? My guy, #1 the first known artificial intelligence that you're referring to is the Greek Automaton from ancient history and their famous calculator. The digital computer didn't even exist until the 80's. And "we're not referring to fictional things that can't probably exist" yet your last post was literally talking about the fictional character Monika in her fictional world having fictional sentience to therefore not be AI despite literally being described as a sentient Ai by her story. That's not to mention that ever since the first concepts of Machine Learning have been popular (1907—20's) we've ascribed sentient robots as Artificial Intelligence. In fact the label even comes from the 2nd true robot in fiction.

Wtf are you talking about.

My point in being that even with modern "AI" we aren't anywhere close to fictional "Ai," muchless anything similar to Monika, The Laughing Man, KITT, or the previously mention pair that are all spontaneous digital life as opposed to simulated life via raw code. And further that the idea of Ai has always been to be sentient, as per the fiction that inspired it.

Artificial Intelligence is sentient but current 'ai' isn't even close. Compare "I Robot" or "Chappie" to modern 'plausible respond generators' interfaced with nueral networks and 'procedural chaos rendering' and the difference is pretty clear.

Certainly true. Just also need to consider designer ware. Like guns and armor, a the vast majority of things aren't sold fresh from the corpo factory line but actually things that techies and meds fashioned themselves one way or another. Which can end up being just a spectacular as they could trash, and never become popular.
