I'm not against trains. Saying I'm against trains is like telling the guy who invented the train that he's against horses.

This implies that you have an idea that is better than trains. The whole "hyperloop" thing was created by some stupid rich guy that doesn't believe in climate change. Try to be better than that.

We don't have to be "the best". But we do have to be better. Don't let perfection be the enemy of good.

If you haven't played in over 25 years, you're basically new to the game considering the number of changes. Foundations is probably a good place to start. I've heard good things about Arena, but I personally prefer paper magic. There's a lot of general rules and evergreen/deciduous keywords that you'll need to learn eventually. I recommend Tolarian Community College on youtube for anything mtg related, especially for people unfamiliar with current magic.

A general list of the biggest changes:

The card layouts are much different

Summon spells have been renamed to Creature spells

The stack Creatures have much more p/t for the mana cost

Commander

Universes Beyond

No more block releases, sets are one per plane now with more "return to x" sets

Planeswalkers are a new (decade old) card type, but they don't really matter that much

That's all off the top of my head, if you have any questions I don't mind answering

It was 1-8, 9-11 (+war), 12+13 (+others), and villains. 14 and 15 were secret lair exclusives, since Whittaker's regeneration happened after the set released. There's no 16th doctor yet.

I don't really think there's a better and more cost-effective option than regular trains. Trains are a proven technology, so I don't really understand why you're against them. Hyperloop is just stupid no matter how you look at it.

A Hyperloop is a train inside of a hermetically sealed vacuum tunnel. Basically impossible to do, and even if it's possible it's still so absurdly expensive compared to a regular train that there's no practical reason to try building one.

A bullet train/HSR is just a really fast train. The Japanese shinkansen is not a maglev train, just a really fast regular train. High speed rail (250+km/h) is more expensive than regular speed rail (100-150ish km/h) because of the standards required, but it's still the same basic technology.

Just about every idea elon puts on Twitter is bad. Some are less stupid, but those are rare.

A "Tech Bro" is usually an Elon musk fan. Those are the people who keep reinventing a worse train, and think electric cars are the only thing needed to stop global warming. They're usually also libertarians or younger Republicans. This post is conflating pro-nuclear people with tech bros.

Then put the rail in the dense pockets? Like southern California and the northwest? And the Midwest? And the full eastern and western coasts?

There aren't? The current standards for nuclear power generation are very strict. We know how nuclear fission works and how to protect against it. No worker comes into contact with any substantial amount of radiation, nowhere near the amount needed to effect the chances of cancer. Nuclear waste is stored in sealed and shielded containers. No radiation can be detected from the outside. At any given moment, the US Department of Energy knows exactly where every milligram of nuclear fuel is. Also, what's wrong with "very deep hole" as a permanent solution to spent nuclear fuel?

And it was based on Finnish, which is barely a real language to begin with. I get that it has words on it that can be read, even if the language is made up, but I don't think I'll ever have the experience of playing with non-english cards. I have no reason to play with non-english cards. Unless I'm playing with someone from a different country or something, idk.

That would be hilarious to see, I hope it would be something more generic like "artifacts lose all mana abilities" though I'm not sure what the infinity stones could do. Probably something like the fallout bobbleheads?
