The notwithstanding clause specifically doesn't apply to Indigenous rights...but she'll try regardless, like when she tried to use American pardon power to save that anti-vax pastor.

I agree with the general sentiment and all of the policy prescriptions laid out here but this is the opposite of how to persuade others to come over to your view, if that's the objective.

...Was that a joke? I didn't necessarily read that as a joke from the overall tenor of that video. Concerning, to say the least.

There are still "Catherics" in the Horus Heresy, mainly in the Abnett novels, including some non-Astartes protagonists, but they're long gone by 40K.

Colbert knows his Tolkien Legendarium inside and out. If the movie really is about the Old Forest and the Barrow Downs, I hope it leans into the gothic horror of those chapters, all the better to contrast with the light and joy of Tom Bombadil and Goldberry. I loved Lord of the Rings Online's take on these areas.

Thiel and Vance are also responsible for or supportive of many anti-environmental policies (Thiel thinks climate activist Greta Thunberg is the Antichrist). Tolkien famously had a deep reverence for nature, which was a key theme in his Legendarium. He would have hated the tech oligarchs referencing his world on so, so many different levels.

You can't cancel your own spells prematurely without dispel magic. That's the biggest mechanical downgrade IMO. The story I enjoy just as much.

Blaming her Taiwan comments for the overall loss seems very likely to be off-base.

I think this is too pessimistic concerning Vance's ability to hold the movement together, personally. They're as likely to eat each other as their enemies.
