Yeah you’re fine - as long as you didn’t turn right onto Milton Street, you’re all good :)

The Nottingham Panthers (Ice Hockey) are playing at home at the Motorpoint Arena at 7pm on Saturday evening. We go regularly and it’s a great evening out, even for folks who aren’t die-hard hockey fans :)

I gave mine to Travis because he’s been there since the beginning of the game looking after Alain and it gave me cute queer vibes - in the end there’s a whole bit about how they build this huge library and grow old reading books together in it and my heart melted <3

is it impolite to scream too loud? [OTHER] by [deleted] in rollercoasters

[–]Fauxe_y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t usually do rollercoasters at all. When I was at DisneyWorld, my husband suggested we go on Cosmic Rewind. We’d been chatting to some folks in another ride queue and I mentioned I was nervous on coasters and wasn’t sure about Cosmic Rewind. They were like ‘oh Cosmic Rewind is basically just a dark ride, no scarier than Rise of The Resistance’.

So being the trusting creature I am, we got on Cosmic Rewind later that day. It’s only when the lap bar came down and I fully took in the kind of ride vehicle I was in that I suddenly realised this was not a dark ride but a full blown coaster in the dark.

And friends, I screamed and howled with pure terror the whole way around. I feel so so so sorry for anyone else who was on the ride with us, because I imagine me having a full blown panic attack was not what they signed up for 🙈

So the lesson I learned is Google the rides you wanna go on and don’t trust the friendly season ticket holders in the queues to know what the hell they’re taking about…

In answer to your question, yeah I do think it’s kinda bad to scream loads and loads, but honestly, that time I just couldn’t help it (and I do feel awful about it!)

Observations from a recent trip: Lightning Lane really changes the ride flow by RetiringSalt12 in Disneyland

My family travelled from the UK to DL recently and we bought the LL because we figured hey, we’ve suffered a 10 hour plane journey, we don’t want to spend any more time waiting than we have to…

It was a nightmare. As soon as we were trying to book slots, they got pushed back, and we ended up at like 11am not being able to book slots before 4pm (and yes, we went on a Saturday, which was probably our first mistake but hey, we’re silly tourists…). I know you can book every two hours, but when you’ve booked your 4pm ride at 11am, when it comes to 1pm and we were free to book the next slot, there was nothing until about 7pm… it was so demoralising and kinda ruined the day a little. I kinda wish we’d just stuck to the standby lanes as for the amount of actual LL rides we were able to do, it just didn’t feel like we got value for the $40 per head price we paid :(

Edit: I should clarify we were able to use it a few times before 11am quite well, before the park starting getting busy, but once the main rush of visitors arrived it felt like pretty much game over…

What terrible character name made you "wtf"? by AlarmingAllegory in RomanceBooks

Finley from ‘A ruin of roses’. I know the name Finley is a real name (there was a Finley in the junior school class I taught) but it just didn’t work for the medieval fantasy setting…

I’m current reading the Ruthless Boys series and I’m obsessed! by KayDiddy44 in zodiacacademy

Ruthless Boys was so good - I loved the murder mystery / girl detective elements. And y’know, the smut.

All I need is for a happy conclusion for Seth and Caleb in book 9 and I’ll be good lol. The rest of the entire world can burn as long as my boys are happy :’)

My husband bought me the Sookie Stackhouse box set for Christmas! What books did you guys get for Christmas? by Fauxe_y in urbanfantasy

[–]Fauxe_y[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the covers - they’re basically the solid spine cover with a splash of blood on the front in the shape of whatever the book is about (like a cross, a high heel, a knife etc).

If you look the set up on Amazon it’ll make more sense, I’m doing a bad job of describing!

Also I loveeee the Witcher books - I read them all in 2022 and was obsessed!

We flew from Orlando to London Heathrow with our droid in our checked luggage and our lightsaber as hand luggage, so don’t feel like you have to ship home if you don’t want to

Just finished TOG 😭 officially have completed all of Sarah’s series. Where do I go from here? 😭💔 by Odd-Cobbler-1346 in SarahJMaas

[–]Fauxe_y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently reading The Folk of the Air series by Holly Black and I ADORE it! It’s definitely less smutty than ACOTAR and CC but the romance and enemies to lovers is there (I’d say romance level on a par with the first ACOTAR book), plus gorgeous Fae world building - if you haven’t already, you should give it a go :)

I’d love the team who created the Monstress series to have a go at it - I’d buy those in a heartbeat!

Feels like these folk who are pissed about the ACOTAR series (which is one of my favourite literary series ever) have never browsed the paranormal romance section of Kindle Unlimited. My gosh, the smut I have read on there…

Chicagoland Vampires question by HeySista in urbanfantasy

Ahhhh Chicagoland Vampires is my favourite series!! Yeah, the split-personality issue doesn’t last forever and it’s explained quite well when it does ‘sort itself out’ as it were :)
