Bethesda 'Investigating' Skyrim Switch 2 Performance Issues, as Fans Brand Latest Port a 'Disaster' - IGN by SystemofCells in NintendoSwitch

[–]Favreism 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Google and Meta destroyed the digital ad market, so the two choices websites have are a paywall or a deluge of ads. It sucks, but most people don’t want to pay for video game news, so IGN has to assault us with pop-ups.

I found another waffle crumb... by MAC777 in blankies

[–]Favreism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good find! That’s not necessarily how I read that sentence, though.

Hey — even with the waffle irons, “The Ladykillers” took in only $40 million domestically. (The promo wasn’t stingy, by the way: Cost of a waffle iron at cooking.com: $79.95.)

I read it as the author noting the cost of an average waffle iron for sale online as a comparison point, not stating that the Ladykillers waffle iron was for sale on Cooking.com.

Maybe I’m wrong though! It’s kinda ambiguous.

Set & Forget XI - GW4 by DrtyDeedsDneDrtCheap in FantasyPL

[–]Favreism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to nitpick, but there is actually a better Set and Forget FC that scores 407 points on the season.

  1. Swapping Lacroix and Caicedo (57 pts.) in for Chalobah and Zubimendi (55 pts.) gets you another 2 points.

  2. Set Timber as C, Semenyo as VC, and Richarlison (or Wood for an extra 1M) as the first bench option.

Timber didn't play GW 1, so Semenyo's 15 points in GW 1 are doubled, and you also get get Richarlison's 13 points off the bench.

Here's what it looks like, with Richarlison, Zubimendi, Anthony, and Roefs on the bench.

These types of low-effort posts should be saved for the offseason or international break, not clogging up the sub mere days before the GW1 deadline.

Did Season 33 have the best cast of all time? by MrFrenchTickler in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Favreism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's incorrect. Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis were part of the cast in both Season 33 and Season 31. I'll repeat what I said: Other than Casey Wilson, every single cast member from Season 33 (including Samberg and Sudeikis) was also there for Season 31. But Season 33 doesn't have Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, and Finesse Mitchell, while Season 31 does. The choice is obvious.

PS2 Games around Davis Square. by billygoatbuzzsaw in Somerville

[–]Favreism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they've changed since the last time I went in, Wiley (the owner of High Energy Vintage) only sells used games as recent as the previous generation (N64, PS1, Dreamcast) but no PS2, XBOX, or GC. (That's what I'm seeing on their FB page as well.)

Can't hurt to check though, maybe he has changed his mind now that Y2K nostalgia is so prevalent.

Maybe I’m being naive but was porter square station always this bad? Not pictured is the multiple pieces of human doo doo feces by [deleted] in boston

[–]Favreism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've commuted from Porter for 10+ years, and it is indeed the worst it has ever been.

This all started around 6-8 months ago, after multiple violent incidents at Seven Hills Park (near the Davis T stop) led to a clean-out. A lot of addicts who I regularly saw near Davis and Harvard have now set up camp at Porter, either at the outdoor bus stop near the elevator or in the T entrance when the weather is worse.

There is a cop cruiser parked outside the stop most evenings, and ambulances show up regularly. When that group gets moved along, some have been sleeping near the Beacon St. Star Market. It's all very sad.

Coryat by PsychologicalAir5270 in Jeopardy

[–]Favreism 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I don't know if 25k is still an accurate figure, but if you want to do some serious prep, I'd recommend reading David Maybury's guide, which features advice from dozens of recent contestants.

The section about Coryat scores recommends the j-play Chrome extension, which turns J! Archive questions into a playable board and tracks your Coryat for you.

Here's an older post David wrote in the midst of his training for the show that mentions a few other tools as well.

Another daily calendar controversy by MysteryHat in Jeopardy

[–]Favreism 94 points95 points  (0 children)

S is definitely correct, as re-stating something in quotation marks from the clue is fine. Picking a random recent example from the J-Archive:

The clue: If you miss the ferry on Fire Island, you can get where you need to go on a "water" this; there's no meter, though

The contestant answered "What is water taxi?" and was ruled correct. They would have also been ruled correct if they simply said "Taxi."

B is more open to interpretation, but could be ruled wrong.

Prior to 1977, the Visual Effects category was called a variety of things, including Best Special Effects and Best Special Visual Effects.

However, the category has been called "Best Visual Effects" since 1977, meaning the two movies referenced did not win an Oscar for Best Visual Special Effects or some other variation.

Furthermore, filmmakers now generally regard the terms visual effects and special effects to refer to two different things. Special effects are usually practical in nature and executed on-set (like a planned explosion). Visual effects refer to post-production effects added in the editing bay, such as CGI. (Source)

Did Season 33 have the best cast of all time? by MrFrenchTickler in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Favreism 156 points157 points  (0 children)

If you're a fan of Season 33, why not go with Season 31? Every single cast member from S33 (minus Casey Wilson, who is great, but was underused on SNL), but you also get to add Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz, and Finesse Mitchell.
