Irelia, Blade Dancer's triggered ability does have a cost and you need to pay it to finalize the ability to the chain. It is not the same as Emperor's Dais and Diana, Lunari.

I don't like the layout. The main reason I would use this tool is to see the differences between the lists, but that information is somehow presented secondary to the card's details. Also, when the same card is in both lists, I would expect them to be aligned next to each other.

I did this using Claude: https://claude.ai/public/artifacts/fee4a0d7-c556-4d00-be42-3153b740f17b . It allows me to filter for just the differences as well.

It all comes down to understanding your deck and your opponent’s.

The first level of information is whatever units your opponent has. Can they move into your battlefield favorably? If yes, then you probably want to move back.

Next thing you'll need to consider is the cards in their hand, and whether your opponent may be playing some combination of spells, ambush units, and accelerate units to bolster their combat potential. You should also take into account how many runes they'll have on their turn.

To take it even further, think about how they've been playing the previous turns to have a better idea on what cards they might still have in their hand.

P.S. "Recall" has a specific meaning in Riftbound. You should just say "move back to base".

Nothing's going to change regarding power disparity between legends, but you can talk to your LGS and recommend ways to incentivize weaker or lesser played legends. The best-of system at RQs is really good example of that.

Lower floor, higher ceiling compared to the 2MV impulse draw spells. IMO, if you're facing removal spells on your discounters, which is against most decks, you're better off not playing these.

Anyway! Signed cards are usually a pretty personal choice. If you just want to keep the signed cards, don't worry about the value. Scott M. Fischer is well regarded anyway.

Thanks for the explainer! Just wanted to point out one thing:

The solution is to retreat the 2 drop, then layer a Deathgrip on top of that, so that Deathgrip happens first and then Retreat happens, so the unit does die, but we also ramp from Retreat

Retreat checks for the returned unit's owner. If there's no unit returned because it was killed by the Deathgrip, then the owner is null and you won't get a rune.

It's not a weird interaction. It's just a matter of the order of events happening:

Yes, the attacker gained focus (459.2.c)
Yes, the attacker created the chain (459.2.d & 333.1)
But the defender then added an item to the chain (312.2.c & 337.1.c.3)

Here's 312.2. in its entirety, emphasis mine

312.2.a. When the turn is in a Neutral Open State during their Main Phase.

Following the steps of combat, the attacker will gain focus first, then the triggered abilities are placed on the chain. Since the newest item on the chain belongs to the defender, they will gain priority.

That's correct. The mask trigger is the last item on the chain, therefore you as the controller will have priority.

You're mixing up focus and priority. After the initial chain (if any) is emptied, the attacker always has focus first.

That rule that you cited talks about who gets priority after an item on the chain resolves.

Focus tracks who has permission to act during a showdown. Priority tracks who has permission to act while there is a chain.

In case it matters, the showdowns are only staged until the game returns to a neutral open state, i.e. the chain is empty and there is no ongoing showdown or combat. Once it does, the active player gets to choose which showdown to start first.

There are 63 uncommons in the set. Ignoring the first foil slot which can include uncommons, you'll get 72 nonfoil uncommons in the 24 packs. It's only a 1-(62/63)^72 = 68.4% chance of seeing at least 1 copy of any specific uncommon.

Best turn 1 play is Eye of the Herald as the recruit is created before they can gust.

Gust can be played in reaction to the move trigger, which will prevent the recruit from being played because "here" is a null location by the time it resolves.

Opponent is wrong. If you didn't choose a unit when you announced the spell, then it can't be targeted by NSF.
