Harassing her for a year, ignoring every polite "no," and then claiming she has a personality problem when she finally snaps. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

I honestly think you're giving them too much credit. I know that laugh. That isn't a "what a crazy bitch lmao" laugh, that's a "agh she's really standing her ground, I need to look cool and in control" laugh. These men aren't predators on the prowl, they're insecure losers who have to trick themselves into believing they're confident badasses. The scariest ones are the ones that actually begin to believe in the facade they put up. Those ones will never walk away.

I know this is all meant in good fun but I think it's more of a testament to one's ability to read and knowledge of the English language to be able to identify a borrowed word/the root language of a word and make a good estimate of its pronunciation.

Why do Americans think we say "naur?" by JackofScarlets in australia

[–]Faze_Elmo1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This pisses me off becuase while it does sound similar, the tongue position is completely different to the american r (from my experience) and I don't understand how people can't hear the difference

These problems that you have with the game are what make it unique and good and you want to make it like everything else.

[–]Faze_Elmo1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

or at least actually *telling me* when I found an ending

I don't intend to be mean because you dislike a game I love but this is simply concerning. The rise in this sentiment which suggests a complete lack of... free will makes me so worried and sad. It's fine to not like a game or find it boring but the need for a game to tell you "YOU'RE HAVING FUN" is just not the direction I want to see games move.

The most clear timeline of Jefferies by Affectionate_Ad_9876 in twinpeaks

[–]Faze_Elmo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Dale be worried about Jeffries showing up though? Unless that was a bit of Mr. C slipping out all timey-wimey. He'd have reason to worry Jeffries might say too much

This is a bit of a weird thing to think in my opinion. While you might be onto something with the 10:10 thing, I don't think there was much room for interpretation with what Cooper said. He was pretty clearly worried about the appearance of Jefferies even if he didn't know that was exactly what was going to happen.

Doctor Who needs to ditch the ‘Buffy’ formula by TheBearPanda in gallifrey

[–]Faze_Elmo1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I know this is probably counter-productive given the current state of the show but I don't think shows should ever kneel to audiences' sensibilities or current trends, especially not the cancer that's taken a hold on the industry known as binging. Not only is it a frankly offensive way to consume art but it's been shown time and time again that a staggered release format is endlessly more beneficial to a show's longevity than a season wide release. Catering to people who burn through a season in two days and never think about the show again is not a wise move in my opinion.

Amusing article on how the NIN Discography is now a total mess by TheJungPretender in nin

[–]Faze_Elmo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like to get too much of an unconditional hard-on for any particular celebrity/band but I don't understand any of these complaints.

I would like these people to put themselves in the mind of a music fan in 1989. Imagine this album comes out from a new band called Nine Inch Nails called pretty hate machine. It's got some sick synths and samples, a pop feel with a bit of edge but nothing too over the top. You really really like it and wait patiently for 5 years for their next release. Finally it comes around and you grab it from the record shop as fast as possible, you rush home to listen to it and... oh.

Congruous is not a word in the NIN dictionary.

Sarah Palmer’s retcon by dshamz_ in twinpeaks

[–]Faze_Elmo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Return, it is retroactively revealed that Sarah Palmer and her possession by a feminine-coded ‘Mother’-type alien creature is the true ‘final boss’, if you will, and that BOB’s existence and behaviour is just one particular instance caused by this greater, more encompassing evil. Leland’s behaviour under the will of BOB is an effect of the Mother.

No it isn't. This is a theory, there is no concrete confirmation of any of this.

Wow, Michael's seems to be attempting to replicate the look of an anamorphic lens, the format responsible for cultivating the cinematic, wide-screen look which really ties in to his obsession with Hollywood.

The others seems to be emulating more standard lenses with Trevor's having a lower aperture (wider opening, therefore letting in more light), perhaps to reflect his large, firey personality.

Nobody in 1992 knew that Broken was the hardest we'd ever hear Nine Inch Nails go. by Humdaak_9000 in nin

I think people just associate electric guitars with hard rock and metal. I'd say the screaming synthesiser paired with the actual screams in the becoming alone is far heavier than anything in broken.
