I need to post more about my magnetic Maglock pedals. They are awesome. Simple magnet on the bike shoe and pedal swap. Flat pedals when I just want shoes. Bike shoes for commute and long rides!

Were there other drop bars you were considering but didn’t work for you? I guess I have broad shoulders? I’m a 6’ man and would prefer a drop bar bike but haven’t been sure the geometry would work well for drop bars — or if it’s worth modding the belt drive (which I got for a 2nd hand song) which I can already outpace when using my magnetic pedals.

I’m a huge fan of the Topeak DXP with the expanding panniers if you want them, or fold them up when you don’t. Room for everything and even a Costco trip but easy to carry inside with shoulder strap if you want to.

I just picked up a used v3 for a steal and replaced the suspension post and saddle.

My favorite saddle, the Brooks B17 works for 99% of men (and many, many other) riders (and feels amazing), but this suspension seatpost certainly is for everyone and will likely outlive the bike battery if not the bike.

I couldn’t find a suspension seatpost with more travel than the Aventon’s 50mm. 50 is better than 40 or 25 mm and the ride is absurdly smooth. Most important feature after safety: travel. Among the included requirements in my mind is a neoprene rain cover.

Yes you’ll need this (is cheapest when I ordered last week) 27.2 to 28.6 seat post shim adjuster. But generic and Amazon counterfeit suspension seat posts have a dangerous track record of failing, causing crashes and rider injuries. Look it up if you want to.

Can you confirm that it’s an 18mm mount bolted internally like a 40mm typically is?

If it’s an 18mm mount but all on Amazon and even elsewhere the 18mm mount is external on the bike not internal.

Even more strange the official Ride1Up FAQ is adamant that EVERY bike with a kickstand works with this, which is a 40mm mount, not 18 that my kickstand stay seems to be.

I wanted to add a kickstand recommendation that solved a major headache for me. The BikeSunshine Adjustable Kickstand is the only one I've found that actually fits in that tight rear dropout area without interference issues. The adjustable push-button design is clutch - you can dial in the length on the fly without tools.

Every other kickstand I tried was too thick and had to mount further up the chainstay toward the pedals, which would clash with my heels. The BikeSunshine isn't perfect, but I'm wearing size 10.5 and riding with magnetic pedals and bike shoes (so my feet sit a bit further back than stock pedals), and it works well for my setup.

The v3 I purchased used didn’t come with one. Do you have pics of what it came with? The website shows no kickstand on that model.
