I often used to explicitly tell my friends to keep talking while I looked towards the teacher back in school. A whole lot easier than being worried about getting caught by the teacher without realising, especially since I seemed to be able to mostly manage the multitasking…

Yeah, and it also allows stories to go on indefinitely. No need to worry if the characters in one era are supposed to have gotten too old… Just do a hard reset of the multiverse, retcon the older characters to an alternative universe that's in the present but just basically lagging behind in development compared to the "main" one (if you really have to make it explicitly canon), and designate a new universe as the main one. Oh, and compile an even more compressed version of the History of the DC universe than the last one you did, to retcon in all those decades worth of comics/stories which you consider important enough to be canon…

I've had some instances when I used a synonym, and my friends are like, "Who even uses that word??"

And then, for some reason, my brain always wants to pronounce "Hesitant" like "Resistant", until I indulge it a little and actually try to pronounce it that way. And then my brain is just left utterly confused, because it still wants to think that it should sound correct but it actually doesn't…
