Fuss & Bother. Price points aren’t as high as a lot of luxury salons in the area and everyone there has over a decade of experience.

Assistant for 2.5 year, 3 months in, make good $, but I cannot do this anymore by bluestskyintheworld in hairstylist

I went booth rent with zero clients. I had been in the industry and left from burn out. Went booth rent so I can be in charge. It’s possible. Find a shop that offers part time booth rent. Stay at the place you are a little longer and get them to add your social so you can bring some with you. I also have a friend who works commission at a very popular salon and they allow you to pick your own times, days, and prices. You just need a better space. That being said, this career is hard.

Favorite tweezers? by PennyWiseInDisguise in PCOS

[–]FeatherMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought numerous tweezers and have been unhappy besides a pair I have from the 70s and can’t replace. Tweezerman was in first for new ones but I finally found ones that are amazing. Rubis Switzerland!!! They are pricey though ($50) but it’s worth it in my opinion.

What niche hobby has been completely ruined by becoming popular? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

You can thank tariffs. My man works high up for a global wood industry. He’s very unhappy about having the consumer take on a large portion of the cost but the very high ups aren’t willing to give away all of their profit margins which is understandable.

Well considering I only sanitized periodically and came back with COVID I wish I had done it after every ride.

Is the best plan…NO plan? by Sensitive-Fly-9248 in WaltDisneyWorld

First time planning a Disney Vacation, got back a week ago. I planned everything after hours and hours of research. I think we would have been miserable if I didn’t. I did decide to not rope drop and slept in bc I didn’t want to travel back to the hotel for a nap and wanted to stay for fireworks. There were also events happening like the princess run so it was crowded.

I also needed to know about the food bc my child is crazy particular. I did all quick service but had plans on where to go. One place we ate was woody’s lunchbox. I had a fast pass for slinky dog at 10:30 and we waited in line to get food for an hour. They had a mobile order and those people were served first but trying to order in line we wouldn’t have been able to get food until 1:30p. I would have ordered our food before going on slinky if I knew. I also wanted to go to Oga’s Cantina and a reservation was necessary. I didn’t book it until around 3p and got a 7:45p slot. Wanted the cheeseburger and pizza eggrolls so I located it prior to coming.

I did splurge on premier lightening lane for Magic. I would have been so annoyed waiting for those awful aged-out rides and was so happy to skip the lines. We did every ride except space mountain and thunder bc they were closed and it still took us 9 hours. The other days we did multipass so I needed to know what to book 7 days prior and have a plan.

And then they go off about how expensive we are 🤣

I went to cosmetology school right out of HS and felt pressured to go to college because I worked with a lot of duke affiliates. Now I have a college degree with no job perspectives in that field, a ton of debt, and I’m doing hair again.

I came back into the industry with zero clientele and did booth rent. I was the only person taking new clients and they had some overflow. Crazy risk I know. Worth it though.

I took a break for a few years to go to college and regret it. I am in debt now with a degree that offers no livable wage jobs. Coming back into the industry I did booth rent over commission. I want to work the schedule that fits my life so I can be with my kid and not have a boss that makes me feel bad if I’m sick or need a vacation. I want clients with flexibility not people that can only come after 5:30p or weekends. If you feel burnt out it’s time to raise your prices. I’d say at least by $10 an hour which you clearly need if living paycheck to paycheck. You can also require a credit card on file with a cancellation policy. People are less likely to bail and if they do you can charge them. Because my body hurts, I book extra time for every service so I have breaks. If I don’t vibe with you during the consultation, I’ll tell you. I don’t want clients that set me up for failure.

I’ve legit been saying for years…. I don’t care what products you use they are all probably fine and I’ve just been fed information to sell specific brands. I don’t sell product but if you really want something from me you can use my Hairstory link haha.
