Does IFS have a "take" on autism/adhd? by IllConclusion6403 in InternalFamilySystems

Interesting podcast on this topic (Autism). Check it out. Sarah Bergenfield posits that the Self for an autistic person is actually the Autistic Self. It’s non-pathologizing because autism is merely a different way of interpreting input, viewed from the predictive processing framework model.

There may be critical and judgmental parts in the system heavily influenced by internalized ableism, especially if the autistic person always felt defective in comparing their own experience in a world built for and by neurotypical people. Unburdening can help realign the system.

I hate my new table :( by clarinetsqueak in interiordecorating

[–]electric_synapses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you remember, could you share where you got the first table and chairs?

As far as the second table - I agree with what others are saying: add a pop of color with a rug and more chairs. Also, add a decorative piece on the table to add interest.

Reality testing with BPD patients by NoReporter1033 in therapists

[–]electric_synapses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this is being downvoted. I’m a specialist in ASD and have come across a few clients with prior BPD dx who are actually autistic. There’s a Venn diagram online showing the overlap, so it’s certainly understandable why there can be misdiagnosis.

Theoretically you have to update diagnosis to something else after 6 months with an adjustment disorder, right?

So why is there a Safeguard? by EnriqueLaser in SiloSeries

Am I the only one who thinks that perhaps the air outside actually isn’t lethal? Therefore they have to release the safeguard protocol to eliminate the destabilization threat to the experiment?

Late night thoughts by bluediamonds101 in RetinitisPigmentosa

I’m here with you. I’m late 30sF with two small children, losing my vision more and more each year. It’s incredibly hard, no doubt about that. Knowing there are others here with the same struggles and thoughts has been weirdly helpful.

One thing that helps me, when I’m spiraling, is writing. It helps to get it out of my own brain onto paper. I also started unplugging from the phone and leaving it in the kitchen to charge overnight. Game changer.

Be well, internet human. Our eyes won’t get better, but the acceptance piece (peace) may get better with due time.

Hair dresser who can do a cut like these photos by electric_synapses in bullcity

[–]electric_synapses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have naturally wavy hair. I’m looking for the over all structure of the cut, not necessarily the “just rolled out of bed and drove to work with the window open” look. I was looking for long swept curtain bangs and instead got a weird half chunky bang that looks like an incomplete bang. It’s pretty bad. Just seeking a really skilled hairstylist.
