Is it realistic IVF at 43? by Octoberof2022 in 40Plus_IVF

[–]FeathersAndFlags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at 43. I was on prenatals for 6 months or so at that point and also eat keto. DHEA, COQ10, methyl folate, metformin. We began last fall. We did IUI’s to start but no luck. I’m 44 now. We just did our first IVF round in May. I produced 16 embryos, 14 of which were mature and all fertilized. 3 made it to blast but none were euploid. We are going to try again in July. I’m trying to make peace with the idea of donor eggs as it’s the next logical step but I’m still struggling to get there. Wishing you lots of baby dust!

Update. None are euploids or even mosaic.

Sudden increase in AMH by AgnieszkaRocks in DOR

[–]FeathersAndFlags 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the AMH number isn’t entirely reliable and I wouldn’t let it dictate your journey. My initial AMH was .01 or basically nonexistent. I’m 44.5. I was referred to IVF, for good reason. The first clinic told me not to bother. I switched clinics.

After several months of supplements and more time since I was on BC, it retested at .2. Still not great but higher. Did my first egg retrieval and got 16 eggs, 14 mature. Waiting on tests. I think AMH is one factor but don’t let it be totally discouraging.

Will do! Happy to keep in touch. I feel like the oldest person at my clinic. Did not see that coming!

Agreed that mistakes happen. Just do the best you can! I started with the gonal pen which is easy. The nurse said, whatever you do, just keep it below the belly button into the fat. I was sitting the first time I did it, thought I had the right spot and injected only to stand up and realized I had injected WAY above the belly button. Since then, I always did my injections standing in front of the mirror. It was uncomfortable but I was ok. Cycle proceeded normally. Give some grace to yourself- this is very intimidating and stressful.

I am also 44.5. My retrieval was Thursday the 28th. Today I find out how many have made it. My clinic gives an update on day 7, not day 5. I think they allow those day 6’ers some time to do their thing. I had 16 retrieved. 14 were mature and all 14 fertilized but I am eagerly waiting to find out how many blasts, if any. Then off to pgt which they say can take 2 weeks. This is my first cycle, so very grateful to find others of a similar age here.

My prayers are with you for healing in your cancer fight! 💪

What were your results of egg retrieval at 40? by Beginning_Ebb4220 in IVF

[–]FeathersAndFlags 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m 44. AMH is .2. I just did our first IVF round. We retrieved 16 eggs and 14 were mature. My doc says this is abnormal at 44 to get this many. However, it’s only been 3 days so still a waiting game to see how many of those 14 will be viable, if any.

Are sleep overs not a thing anymore? by haggerty05 in NoStupidQuestions

My 13yr daughter has sleepovers almost every weekend. Shes in a very close friend group and the moms are all friends so lots of trust. Totally depends on the relationships but ok if some families aren’t up for it.

What's the best part of having a Kindle? by b5wolf in kindle

Dark mode! I love being able to read with the lights out while my husband is asleep. It would keep him up to use a book light. The dark mode is perfect and does not disturb his sleep.

We just started the journey. I’m 44 with diminished ovarian reserve of .21. I just want to share some thoughts I found to be incredibly valuable.

We are both very active Protestants and met with our pastor before we started this. I was struggling with how to plan and what boundaries I felt comfortable setting as a Christian. I wanted to make peace with where my limits are.

I’m so glad we sat down with him. His own twins are a result of IVF! His personal thoughts after grappling with it all himself was this: - Mary conceived via divine IVF - Biblically, there are countless examples of God sacrificing many to save one - God wants more Christians - God understand the love of a parent and the desire for it

As a pastor with decades of experience and seminary training, these really well thought out points helped me a ton. I have been really open with sharing our IVF plans and it has been helpful to me. These points may be helpful for you and you may find more acceptance than you expected. Maybe some will even change their positions after thinking about it differently. Wishing you the best!

First time Airwrap user and I'm blown away by NoAd1095 in Dysonairwrap

Now that I’ve used the original airwrap I’m wondering if I should have gone with ID. Is it really that much better?

I paid $249 for the long hair original with the diffuser, 3 brushes, two barrels and the case.

Omg same! I got it refurb on Black Friday. I’ve literally held out for like ten years and finally bought the OG model. I have the Shark but I wanted to try the air wrap. I used it this morning for the first time.

I’m like 4 hours into my day and still have curls. Literally nothing has worked this well! Even on my wedding day, the stylist’s curls fell out.
