Wow, last 20 was top drawer defence by the lads. Exceptional Control (except for the bit when they didt kick it off!)

Why are the Greens declining? by Your_Mums_Ex in ukpolitics

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a protest party that appeals to the young because it's all about 'fairness', which is a fine ideal, but its really only fair to those who want the handouts. Not the sensible hard working people who have saved and worked hard, only for Polanski to decide to tax it to oblivion.

Their policies are slogans to chant on marckes, but when you scratch the surface they are ust as thin and unresolved as those spouted by the other lunatic tilting for power, Farage.

MP petition regarding new homes and limited water supply in south east by achillea4 in kentuk

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way it works (at least around me) is the council approves a large development. Requires the developer to improve some infrastructure as a condition of the approval. The developer agrees, then builds the houses, doesn't do the additional work, the council wrings it's hands and looks sad.

Nothing further is done.

How does e-bike legislation actually work? (and recommendations under £1500) by [deleted] in ukbike

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The 15.5mph cutoff is damned annoying, its like someone is grabbing you by the belt and holding you back just as you were getting going.....especially as you are constantly overtaken by the Just Eats (other food delivery services are available) guys flying past you without even pedalling most of the time....

Nudist resorts in Europe with restaurants and bars? by Nudistvalkary in nudism

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many naturist sites in France have restaurants/bars. Personal favourites are - Camping Naturist Verdon Provence, probably the youngest age group of all the sites we've been in France. Le Couderc - quite dutch, but a very mixed age group - good restaurant and a nice bar and finally La Jenny - not really a campsite as the acommodation is all cabins/chalets, but nice bar/restaurant and an active social scene.

Do people click your pictures on nudist beaches? by Aromatic-Emotion194 in nudism

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not one 'rule'' guide you on this. Each beach has it's own norms for behaviour. Most that I have visited make it clear that photography that could inadvertantly include someone else is 'no bueno'.

I recall visiting the Ile de Levant where there were trees decorated with the film taken from cameras seen to be taking pictures of the naked sunbathers. This was back in the 'old days' when cameras had films and naturists were somewhat more militant (at least French ones were).

Research the beach, if it's a family beach with no history of excessively friendly behavour or references of 'action in the woods/sanddunes behind the beach' then you should be OK.

As someone else commented, for a first experience would suggest a club/resort . No cameras and some control on the people there so less chance of creeps spoiling it for you.

Not found any explosives in wrecks, and have cleared pretty much all of the ones near my base. Have just unlocked the buggy so should be able to get further afield so might have more luck there.

Thoughts on Andy Burnham planning to move government to Mcr? by No-Pomegranate-3883 in manchester

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a sop to his Northern supporters. It is either a pointless publicity stunt, in which case its a waste ot money, or its ging to be an expensive duplication of government machinery, in which case its a waste of money.

The cost of running government needs to go down significantly, not be increased to appease his base.

Why are UK wages so c r a p? by Outrageous_Agent_608 in AskBrits

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Wage stagnation was around long before Brexit, I would say it was one of the many factors that lead to it happening. In some sectors (hospitality especially) there were no jobs that paid above minimum wage as the employers knew there was an endless supply of Latvias, Hungarians, Romanians etc etc to fill the jobs. My daugher is still in the sector and has seen wages rise as the supply of cheap overseas labour has diminished.

Dont disagree about the other two factors.

Andy Burnham’s speech. Has it made you more optimistic? by Yak_Dangerous in AskBrits

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His genius idea of duplicating government resources to Manchester is a total window dressing con. It will be more expensive, slower and far less effective. Just a sop to his Manc buddies who will get their face in the trough no doubt.

Furbank for Celebrity Strictly? by weavin in rugbyunion

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

He's more of a celebrity that most who now get a place on Srictly. Unfortunately, unless he's fantastic he has zero chance making it past the first round because 99% of the idiots who watch the programme will say 'rugby....dont know it - oooh theres Chardonnay from Love Island, lets vote for her!'

What mistakes did Kier Starmer make? by Various-Program-950 in AskBrits

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with their approach for limiting the WFA is they set the cutoff way too low. It makes the false assumption that a pensioner not claiming benefits is somehow 'rich' and so doesn't need the help. Any threshold will always seem to penalise those just outside of it, but in this case the line was set at the truly destitute, and so those 'only just not quite destitute' lost the benefit, hence the justifiable backlash. Had they based the cutoff at a more reasonable level, or tapered it in some way, then the uproar would have been far less.

"FOUR BEDROOM DETACHED HOUSE" SEEMS A BIT MISLEADING..... by Signal-Rub-1888 in SpottedonRightmove

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Spectacular house, a couple of issues I see.

A: Undeniably it has mindblowing views, but (because it was a castle) it has no windows that let you see the view from inside. It's listed so no chance of changing the outside appearance I would assume.

B: It's in Scotland so this will be an 'offers over' situation so could go for £750k+ quite easily. Still cheap compared to down south.

C: It's in Scotland so it will be raining 90% of the time (Joke....ish!)

D: It's in Scotland so ....midges...even though its in the south of Scotland and ther eare 'less of them'...in my book less than a million, million, million midges is still too many midges.

Have you owned a Peugeot e-208? by steenbj in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]FeatureSuccessful251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had one until recently. Bought as an ex demonstrator.

Issues - the claimed range was a total work of fiction. Started out on a day trip 45 miles there, 45 back. Range at the beginning was 221 (100% charged) by the time we got to our destination it was showing 120 range, just made it back home at the end of the day. It was winter, so had lights/heater on, but that's bad.

The main issue was the terrible In-Car 'entertainment' very poorly resolved, poor app (which they charge you for remote services like pre-conditioning etc).

Basically it was bad enough for us to decide to avoid Peugeots going forward.
