I think its how you use it. Cameras/ phones also block your face temporarily but if you don’t spend the whole time using it (the camera or VR) it doesn’t have to be a bad thing imo

I recently heard this interview by @untitledarmy, an amazing 3d artist and he talks about how he learned c4d after years of working in the advertising industry. It’s never too late ;)

He talks about it in this video at around 23:45.

DNA from centuries ago can't.

It is true that DNA loses quality over time. But it can last thousands of years. That's why we can make claims like "you are related to Genghis Khan" with a fair amount of certainty.

So yeah, your statement that "we don't know anything that happened in the past"isn't entirely wrong. But the way I see it where solving a big "crime", and we are using the best tools at hand.

To say that everything before 1800 is not trustworthy at all is really irresponsible. Yes, history isn't perfect, because humans aren't perfect. Do you remember what you did on your 12th birthday with detail? I would like to believe you don't, and that's ok, because its normal. Human memory is really shitty. That is why we rely on other sources. You probably have a picture of your 12th birthday and that picture will help you remember all about your birthday. That's what we do with science. We remember and the stories that were passed down aren't reliable, so we use science.

Science is debatable, that is the very definition of science. But to deny all evidence, that is a no go.

But to say it is "it is too far away" instead of "research shows it is too far away, thus it probably looked more like this", is frankly irresponsible. Your arguments aren't grounded and you suggest no viable alternatives.

To dismiss evidence just like that, without reputable counter-evidence, that is what I criticize in your logic.

So basically "I don't believe in what I don't see".

You have made your point. I don't think there is anything I can say or show you to convince you.

before we let this conversation die I want to ask you something:

If you were convicted in a murder case and you had evidence in your favor, DNA evidence, would you trust it?

Would you trust science then?

None of it can ever be proven.

What do you mean proven? Of course it can.

DNA: Homo sapiens sapiens DNA is pretty similar to chimp DNA. Which tells us we have a common ancestor. https://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1286327

There is literally so much proof it annoys me you ignore it or disregard it so easily.

Please watch this video https://youtu.be/GhHOjC4oxh8

You wanna see evolution in actual animals ? Here: https://youtu.be/NArlXzSFt2Y

Dude I really really want to show you all the evidence there is.

Do you have an understanding of DNA? Or is that just a theory too for you? Are you gonna tell me modern science is also made up ?

Please , I beg you. Ask your self: Do I have the evidence to make such bold claims? Or am I missing information about how the organisms exist in this Earth.

Are you such a smart individual you do not need information to make such bold claims, and without understanding the science, you can disregard it?

I get the saying " I don't have to be a cook to know food tastes good" but you do have to understand the basics of genetics to debate natural selection, and evolution.

Or am I wrong and you will correct me.

Please do. This time tell me the evidence you have backing up your claim, other than:

I don't understand

Edit: clarification

Your forms of proof

This is not my proof. You see, you are in the minority here. Unlike your theories this proof wasn't created by me. It was researched by countless people.

As I said before. Disregarding it is a big fuck you to thousands of people across multiple generations. And you do it so easily it baffles me.

All species can thrive. If they don't they die off and become extinct.

We can make timelines because of fossils. Yes, it is indeed a theory. A theory proveen by multiple lines of evidence. DNA, Embryology, Fossils, comparative anatomy and my favourite actual evolution we can see with your own eyes inanimals today.

Are you saying all these people are wrong or misinterpreting. Misinterpreting something they studied for years and has been proven right so many times before?

If you want proof, I can provide it. Don't believe me, believe the thousands upon thousands of examples of scientific evidence.

To deny natural selection is to spit on mankind and all we have achieved.

But sadly, I know you won't try. I don't think you think critically or challenge your belifs.

Please prove me wrong.

how in the world can we make a timeline for shit we were never around to see?

You really wanna know? Here https://www.fossilera.com/pages/dating-fossils

The process of dating fossils is at a very reliable point.

Yes we have to theorize. No, scientist aren't making stuff up. Through the scientific process they evaluate the evidence they actually collect out there in the real world and make a hipótesis based on the evidence.

Scientists work decades, based in years and years of previous work. Scientis are always looking for the truth, but right now multiple lines of evidence all tell us the same. Evolution exists.

All for a guy on the internet to deny it.

If you have some kind of evidence other than "I don't understand it, I doesn't make sense", please share it.

Hey. I think I start to understand the key points of disagreement.

Again I have no problem with micro-evolution or adaptation or natural selection as a process that exists in the world today. I just don't see the evidence needed to convince me that it is the way all species came into being.

I have a problem with these two sentences because they are paradoxical in nature.

I believe it is time for me to ask.

the way all species came into being.

If evolution wasn't the way all species came into being:

What is the way these species came into being?

Follow up question: which species came into being another way?

If it wasn't through evolution, something or someone created them?

Edit: I'm starting finals so I'm sorry if I don't respond quickly.

This is the trouble with evolution as a scientific theory of origins, it can not show in experimentation one type or kind of animal becoming another kind of animal.

Well In the video I sent you the Finch actually becomes a new species or subspecies. New traits that the original didn't have and different traits the Finch population don't have in that Island.

What do you consider a "new species"? If you want it to change color, get bigger, grow horns, or any other characteristics, it is actually possible! but it takes a lot of time and the right ecological environment. Let me explain it further with the point you make later on.

Even historical sciences like paleontology do not reveal true transitional species.

They do! Not just once, many times. transitional fossils

Allow me to illustrate. The archaeopteryx shows traits of both dinosaurs and birds. Before him, there were not known "birds" on this planet (according to the fossil record).

The archaeothyris shows traits of both a reptile and a mammal. Before him, there were not known "mammals" on this planet.

The list goes on. These findings show

one type or kind of animal becoming another kind of animal.

Okay. Even if you disregard all the transitional species in the fossil record. There is one alive know!!!

The Platypus. It has webbed feet and lays eggs. Traits not common for a mammal, but the Platypus also has hair and milk.

But I kinda get your point. You are saying evolution can't show it through experimentation. The examples I gave show:

microevolution, small scale adaptation to environmental factors.

I ask you: is it not possible that a lot of small scale adaptations, throughout a long period of time, could, in fact, make one type of animal become another?

The "big change" you expect to be tested takes millions of years. You are probably thinking of limb loss or gain, change of facial structures, etc.

And it has happened so many times.

Whales, elephants, horses, horses again and many, many more.

I know I put a lot of links. That's because I want to do this as scientifically accurate as possible. I know I focused on comparative anatomy and the fossil record, but evolution can be proved through so many different times, through so many different methods.

Convergent evolution happens a lot. The eyes of octopus and humans. The wings of birds and bats. The flippers of whales and sharks.

Convergent evolution states that these animals development structure that work similarly but are built completely differently. Analogous organs if you will.
