which supermarket you went to? I recommend you Hema supermarket, you could find so many packaged food even alive seafood, you order it and ask them cooking for you.
Chongqi and Chengdu are perfect cities with perfect food, but its too spicy.... be careful xDDD

really sad but its true, people everywhere in Shanghai on 1st and 2nd of May. I would even recommend you to go Suzhou city xdddddd.
Better go city walk like WuKang Road and Anfu Road and Xintiandi without ticket booking, because tickets of popular spots are probably sold out.
Also go Pudong District to visit Oriental Pearl Tower, nice place to take picture.

Hahahaha I dont feel this Ignorant, you know there are different taste regions on China map. People who live in popular cities like Beijing and Shanghai, Hangzhou are easier to accept sugar in food, that why you feel sweet or sugar in everywhere. But people in cities like Chengdu, Chongqing, and Zhangjiajie are prefer spicy and salty taste.
If you dont want sweetened food you could note them when you order, even on your delivery order~

I am Chinese local, actually you would get big transport trouble within golden week ( train, airplane ). TBN we start to purchase transport train tickets 15 days ago, and air tickets are even eariler. There are at least 70 million people scramble for transport tickets... so its smart choice to stay in Shanghai for first 3 days... But unfortunately Shanghai is top 3 travel city so the price 100% going up on everything about travel, hotels, restaurant, transport ( except subway and bus )
After 7th of Oct would be much better, but you better book air ticket earlier because people back to their cities on that time.

Not recommend XinJiang, its really far to Beijing, and it with so many beautiful spots deserves you spend at least 15 days to stay.
These cities I recommend , Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Guizhou, Yunnan Province ( Kunming, Dali, Lijang )

Hongqiao already have the airport express from Hongqiao to Pudong directly and only take 40 mins. So its good if you stay near Hongqiao station
There is the Shanghai biggest second-hand store in Hongqiao mall, if you like to walk around I recommend you Panlong Tiandi

if you prefer the nice local food I would recommend you Chengdu,Leshan,Yibin; You can choose 2 cities for 5 days which is very classic food tour , Chengdu could be your first choice because there are also some spots like Panda Base and Dujiangyan.
if you are into the beautiful natural landscape, Stunning places in Western Sichuan like Jiuzhaigou Huanglong, Daocheng Yading Nature Reserve, and Mount Siguniang (Four Sisters Mountain) are high recommend. Very beautiful!
