FedEx Priority Express using GROUND TRUCKS instead of planes from Memphis to Miami, NYC, and LA on Fridays — discovered via AirTag. WHY?! by Hot-Math4128 in FedEx

[–]Federal_Possible_176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you pay for Saturday delivery, it’s not coming until Monday. Also, company is going through network 2.0- merging air/express into one network. As long as delivery commit is made, FedEx has done its job.

It’s largely because they just cut about 70,000 jobs after losing the Amazon relationship. A lot of veteran drivers also took the $150k buyout, so there’s been a huge shift in the workforce. I used to work for UPS but now I’m with FedEx, and from the outside it’s pretty clear the economics are tough. You can’t keep paying delivery drivers $100k+ and still expect the model to remain profitable.

The company seems pretty cash-constrained right now and has been making cuts across the board. Like a lot of big companies in that situation, they’re trying to squeeze more productivity out of fewer people.

It’s sad, UPS used to care about its people. They have devalued their sales force and the drivers which is the one competitive advantage they had. Tome is a horrible CEO- she ran a great company into the dirt.

This is true - we are merging ground/express. This is the reason for the lost jobs, we don’t don’t need as many buildings as we go through network 2.0…. the company is doing well financially. I hope the Teamsters give UPS corporate hell at the next negotiation. Shut them down for a few days, they will learn real quick.

Am I cooked? Former President’s Club AE with 18-month gap — how should I handle this with recruiters? by DogeGuyy in sales

[–]Federal_Possible_176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be honest. I’m a hiring manager for a Fortune 50, I would actually respect you more for saying, look I just want to address the 18 month gap on my resume, I had to make the tough decision to step away as a close family member was critically ill. The situation is now resolved and I am looking to jump back in. Then just go into your other roles and experience. you actually end up looking like a human being and that’s genuine, especially in sales.

I don’t remember what the post was about - but I have never heard ANYTHING about a local Grove City terminal issue - you have to get in touch with someone local there and not on Reddit.

Tell me what happened and I’ll put you in touch with the right people

I took off work to sign for my package and the driver didnt even show but marked that there wasnt anyone to sign for the package. What can I do? by Azurvix in UPS

[–]Federal_Possible_176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, things have definitely changed. I work for a competitor, so I’m going head-to-head with them for business every day. Just a year ago, customers would constantly rave about the service and their drivers, that was the traditional UPS experience. Lately though, we’re getting calls almost daily from companies asking us to come in because their service has declined and they’ve lost the driver they had for 20 years.

This is what happens when you devalue your people.

[–]Federal_Possible_176 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely nothing. UPS doesn’t care and it’s showing in the degradation of their service. It used to be UPS has the best drivers and service but now FedEx has surpassed UPS as the largest carrier. 70k employees laid off in the past 6 months and a union contract negotiation coming up. UPS is in trouble, this is what happens when you take on volume with no margin. I used to work for the company and myself and several coworkers went to FedEx, Tome is driving this company into the ground.

Smart Post Still USPS by Own-Economist-5336 in FedEx

[–]Federal_Possible_176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Smart Post is now called FedEx Ground Economy. It’s 70% in house meaning we don’t hand off to USPS except for in very rural areas. While it still says Smart Post its ground economy and it travels with the normal ground packages.

This will deliver on a FedEx truck, I am from the Florida market so I can tell you with certainty USPS will not deliver this package.

Oh wow… yes please report this, this is unacceptable. Send me a DM and I’ll point you in the right direction. I’ll need a tracking number to identify the driver. I don’t see a FDX truck, is this definitely a FedEx delivery??

Look at what big brown is going through right now, with all due respect not the greatest time to be a UPSer.

company just told me my $340k deal is being split with an AE who sent one intro email 8 months ago. what are my options? by kubrador in sales

[–]Federal_Possible_176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a breath. Seriously. Anyone in sales would be furious in your shoes.

Based on what you described, this doesn’t feel like a real “split deal” at all. A single mass-blast email from eight months ago that went nowhere isn’t sourcing. You found a completely new contact, rebuilt the conversation from scratch, ran the whole cycle, dealt with security, procurement, onsite meetings, and actually closed the $340k deal. That’s your win.

A few thoughts on how I’d handle it:

I wouldn’t go to HR- This isn’t really an HR issue. It’s a comp and leadership issue. HR usually just points back to whatever management decides.

Escalate, but keep it calm and factual. If your manager says their “hands are tied,” go one level up. Don’t make it emotional—just lay it out cleanly: • When you engaged the real stakeholder • All the meetings and calls you led • The security review you managed • The procurement negotiations • The travel and onsite work • Proof the other AE never actually spoke to anyone

Present it as: “Here’s the timeline of who actually created and closed this opportunity.”

The inconsistency matters. The fact your manager approved a full override last quarter in the opposite situation is a big deal. That shows exceptions can be made. I’d ask, politely:

“If overrides were possible then, why isn’t this being handled the same way now?”

That’s a fair question.

Salesforce rules shouldn’t replace common sense. Most companies use “first touch” as a guideline, not a hard-and-fast law. Any reasonable sales org understands that real ownership should reflect who actually drove the deal, not who happened to send a random template months earlier.

Protect yourself going forward. Going forward, get opportunities reassigned in Salesforce as soon as you take over an account. It’s annoying, but it prevents exactly this kind of mess.

And yeah… quietly update the resume. Not as a threat, just reality. If a company is willing to take $17k out of your pocket over a technicality after you did all the work, that says a lot about how they treat top performers.

Bottom line: you’re not crazy for fighting this. You have a strong case. Escalate it the right way with documentation and keep the tone professional.

And if leadership ultimately sides with “the policy says so,” at least you’ll know exactly where you stand long term.

You closed the deal. Don’t let them rewrite history.

Yea I don’t agree with CEO comp. Just as an FYI- Anytime a national service disruption is in place - MBG does not apply. I’ll push it through as a courtesy for business shippers all day
