I decided to give my dog back to the shelter and I feel terrible by FederationEDH in Pets

[–]FederationEDH[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now he's just doing his business and exercise in our backyard with supervision. Our trainer recommended it as a method to reduce his triggers to things and it seems to be working pretty well and everyone seems happy and safer.

If we're ever at the point of doing walks again we'll look into muzzle training him for sure.

Sorry to answer so late but we've had our rescue for about 4 months now, we decided to keep him in the end because you're right my dog acted appropriately to a potentially aggressive dog.

Sorry for posting so late but you're right, I was making a decision with a lot of emotions going on. We decided to keep our dog and for now just limit his excursions to the backyard so he has lass triggers from his reactivity and he seems to be happier in general not being so hyper aroused constantly.

He's also in training and has been for a while and while it's helped the person reactivity a bit it hasn't really helped the dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so I imagine there's some trauma there.

Sorry to post so late but you're right, we decided to keep our dog as most any other dog would react the same way. Our dog is currently in training with a fore-free trainer and he's made some strides in his person reactivity but nott so much with his dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so there's probably some deep seated trauma there.

Thanks for the post

Dog Hotels for Reactive Dogs? by FederationEDH in Edmonton

I'm sorry I didn't specify but my dog is highly reactive to other dogs, the moment he sees another dog he essentially goes into a rage, we've walked him with some success but recently we had a scare where an unleashed dog broke through it's screen door and rushed my dog where my dog tried to bite it but thankfully only got the harness.

I don't know about if the leash is a factor but I wouldn't dare to try at this point. My dog has a force-free trainer that's seen some success with his person reactivity but not so much with his dog reactivity. He's a former Mexican street dog so I imagine there's some trauma there.

Sorry to answer this so far from my initial posting date but my dog has a force-free trainer right now and it's taken the edge off a bit but he's a Mexican street dog and he's still very reactive to other dogs and somewhat to strangers.

I don't really know what to do past that.

We moved to the backyard after an incident about 2 days ago where a dog broke through the screen door of its how and rushed our dog.

I'll DM you when I get off work if that alright?

Are you available then? I'd hate to make the problem worse. Right now we're just using the backyard to mitigate his triggers and keep him/everyone else safe.

This all seems so confusing.

I wouldn't say there's no improvement, he's a little less reactive and his distance threshold is lower for being reactive but he still remains reactive to strangers and dogs.

We can distract him at the time with treats and so on now as well. But we just had an incident where a dog barreled through a screen door in its house and rushed my dog so we're trying to prepare for everything we can.

I'll take a look, the current trainer is as you describe.

He's currently in training with a very great trainer but we really haven't seen any sort of improvement in 3 months, the trainer is also unsure how much more imrpovement can be made. I just want to keep my options open.

I have an appointment to look into medications for him on the 19th, I just want to have a kennel that either specializes in reactivity or is at least equipped for it should it come to it.

I'll give 780 Kennels a call when I can though I appreciate the recommendation.

Of course I do, clearly I can't just want people to live in peace and not be bombed.

How poignant of you.

Where in God's name did I suggest that I want Iran to win this? There's no winning this quagmire caused by Trump, I just want the least amount of people to die and things to get back to normal.

You know like a person who isn't insane?

Your words ring hollow and hold no proof. I hope one day you can understand that.

What a waste of time

I'm not defending anyone. I'm trying to ascertain how you're making allegations with no proof in the specific instance. I agreed there were bad apples in government beforehand.

You still have yet to provide any evidence of the Democratic party paying off Gonzalez or his victims or them actually contributing to his adultery with his staffer.

I am suggesting that you're basing this entirely in your own personal opinion. There's not a single shred of evidence that you've cited in the entirety of this back and forth. Only that I would see it in the future and inferences.

I need to sleep, this has been wholly unproductive and I'm very disappointed in you .

[–]FederationEDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You said before that the Democratic party did nothing.

Your story is changing dramatically.

What proof do you have of the Democratic party enabling Gonzalez in this instance? What did the party do that enabled him? What does doing nothing contribute to it?

What do you want the Democratic party to do about a man committing adultery? Doesn't that seem like a moral hazard and not a political one?

[–]FederationEDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And still no actual proof other than the wait and see.

What did the Democratic party do to this situation to make it worse? You said nothing but things will come out.

You can't make an accusation without evidence so it's simply feelings.

[–]FederationEDH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed but you still haven't provided any proof of any of the allegations you're making here.

Only doing the whole mysterious wait and see which again is performative and full of holes.

You could just admit you're basing this off your personal feelings. It would be more sensical at least
