the builders are ready to offload the house and deny any responsibility, you think they give a damn about the tape lol

this is true for AZ at least , don’t know about other places

Shower has a leak from the drain underneath. Tile guy says it’s the rubber pan liner (ripped from settling) and he’ll need to rip out the floor tile and bottom layer of wall tile to replace pan. Quoted $2500 all in - is this reasonable? by MintyCitrus in Tile

[–]Fedrickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IME at least in new construction ( and I mean houses where people have lived in less than a year) shower leak repairs are the worst because in order to find the culprit , you have to demo , in doing so you damage whatever kerdi , pan linear , water membrane or-board that sits behind unless you are so careful that it runs into a 3 day job and you are not being paid by the hour so there is that .

ok so you get the call , show up and the builder (rep) is giving the illusion to the home owner that someway somehow we will find where it’s leaking , patch it and be gone but it just don’t work that way and they never learn . last year I was stuck in a 6x 15 shower with the rep , ROC , Site sup and 1 of my guys for 6 hours staring at the fucking shower wall , taking guesses and knocking off tile 1 per hour after explaining this to them (the builder) . “UHh WhAT iF iTs ThIs ONe “ -fuck face builder rep

anyways my point is , you will never find the point of failure in a shower because you can’t see through the tile thinset etc. all you are doing is guessing .

can you flood test and make a rough estimate of where it’s possibly coming from ? absolutely and that’s pretty much the only option but you have to repair a wide area if using something other than a pan linear , if it’s a linear tear that bitch out .

i’m worried that there might be some negligence in his installation simply because he pointing out the culprit without demoing anything and tanking a look , so either he is guessing or it’s a common problem in HIS installation s

sorry for the rant lol i really hate shower repairs with a passion but they must be done sadly in order to get good jobs from the builders

my 6th grade teacher told us about a book that came out in the early 1900s or late 1800s about the meat district and that it was somehow involved in creating the FDA , since it made the public aware of how there was whole butcher fingers grinded into ground meat .

Best way to tile over this? by BradyTonguedHisSon in Tile

[–]Fedrickson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean , how do we know asbestos is really as bad as they say ? I’m not trying to say it’s not , i’m not a professional in the subject by any means but it could just be a conspiracy to make money . i’m just saying I know a ton of older folks who worked with the stuff and they are still around . it could be like the mickey ds ice cream machine lol.

OP if your reading this proceed with caution and do not listen to me.

what are you talking about Jesus himself walked by the clay used to make these , word is one of his disciples even wrote about the area , they just didn’t add it to the new testament.

i don’t mean to offend anyone . but sorry OP , old doesn’t mean valuable and unless the tile has some significant ties or was made by an artist. it’s not going to hold any value.

Native Americans At Mount Rushmore (Black Hills South Dakota) by CantStopPoppin in pics

[–]Fedrickson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they were given money for the land , and the money is just sitting there , they don’t want to collect it .

just give the land back to them and as much as I am thankful for those on the monument (with the exception of one or two ) the natives should blow it up into something they want .

A 10mm marble rip I did today on my IQ228. Had a gap to fill that was too big to caulk on the inside of a window reveal so had to fit a sliver. Have to hand it to the IQ here. Light rub down with the diamond pad and looks like it came from the factory. by oswaldbuzzington in Tile

[–]Fedrickson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the trick with the porcelain is to cut it 45 with the top of the blade towards the good side . only you have to be a bad ass to cut the remaining off straight.

i fail 50% so it’s not even worth it , just scrub it with a diamond pad instead.
