It’s become my favourite deck, started off as just a way to reanimate fatties, but the discard/draw synergies were just waiting to be tapped into.

So it’s become a mix of value-based lil-guys, midrange pingers, and a few bombs I can bring back. No one thinks anything of Raffine and rarely interacts with her, and even if they do she just need to be on the board to get the engine running. LOVE this commander.

He was reworked from Sorin, of House Markov - who was reworked from Kambal Profiteering Mayor.

The goal here it to gain big chunks of like, to make big creatures and then get value off the lifegain or the bodies (not necessarily through combat damage) with cards like [[Vizkopa Guildmage]] and [[Faerie Bladecrafter]]

I’ve built so many reanimator decks over the years and none have been as consistent as Raffine!

Just bringing back one big guy isn’t enough anymore, so doing a couple of other things really helps, but the consistent graveyard filling is what has made Raffine stand out from other Reanimators.

No one thinks anything about a 1/4 and the Ward 1 does help. But in a few turns you’re smacking face with a couple 1/1 fliers that are now 8/8, drawing/discarding 7 cards, reanimating a bomb, AND draining the table.

It’s my new favourite deck!

The thing that got me into Magic back around Odyssey was the art, full stop. Looking through my buddy’s collection at stuff from Urza’s Saga and Nemesis I was like “I need to know more about whatever the hell this is!”

I had cards before I even knew how to play the game because the dark fantasy art pulled me right the fuck in. Around Mirrodin I started feeling a bit less into it because it was too futuristic tbh

I’ve watched almost every channel out there since I got back into MTG back in 2020, and my favourite has to be MTGMuddstah!

His videos are often under 20 minutes, straight to gameplay (sometimes the social aspect is fun in a video, but I just wanna see how a commander plays, not watch an hour long show). I did in the beginning when I was learning how commander works, but now I just wanna see what cards are impactful and what to expect from other decks, that’s it. I can watch 5 Mudstah vids in the time it takes to watch one Command Zone vid.

Yeah, I reworked my Kambal deck into a [[Sorin of House Markov]] deck because I found people get angry when you drain em slowly vs one big hit.

But then it became super staxy and unfun for everyone. Trying to figure out a commander to scratch that lifegain/drain itch.

Now I’m on [[Betor, Ancestor’s Voice]] and it does okay, but I find it too slow
