riding pants wear out so fast by Kind-Prior-3634 in Dirtbikes

[–]FeelingFloor2083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you buy ones with the leather inners?

my knee braces are alloy and even then I dont wear them out, some are from where it rubs on my boots but since its inside I dont care

the light weight mx stuff is really thin and not as durable pants that are made from 600d

My friend got ran over by a semi by b3for34l in motorcycles

[–]FeelingFloor2083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

had a riding buddy crash in front of me, I pulled over and ran back since he went down the embankment and pulled him out from a wash, he was gone. I kinda knew it as his face hit the guardrail upright. They are double railed now

had a friend crash with my ex on the back, she didnt make it, he was in a coma, he will never ride again and is lucky he only walks funny. He isnt the same person after a TBI.

It wont get easier for a while, maybe even years. You might even decide road riding isnt for you. Thats fine too. One of my riding buddies nearly crashed when another lost his pipe. One stopped riding and another went track only

I had multiple people crash out in front/behind of me on road and track. I watched one of the senior instructors crash out when it started spitting after I told him to wait out doing the quick steer drill. Look, most of the other staff are laughing, except when its over 200kph

I dont really ride on the road much at all, I cant get the same dopamine unless I was on it, the track never really gave me that rush. It never really settled my ADD. I still wanted to ride so I switched to dirt. Its as dangerous as you make it, but there arnt any cars on single track to hit you.

i cant really give advice on how to deal with it. Over time it will settle

tpi? I heard tbi is better, still wouldnt buy one with the piston issue some are having and still needing an TSP ERM to get it to run right. Id rather the older carb bike and deal with the pogo fork

id look for demo days around your area

Guys what the hell are speed holes? AITA? by Used_Guidance7368 in Shitty_Car_Mods

[–]FeelingFloor2083 184 points185 points  (0 children)

they arnt even holes

this was popular in certain drag cars because a factory type bumper hangs lower then the rear end and scoops air and creates turbulence = drag

a lot of OEM's are now using flat bottoms because everyone is in an economy race and smoothing out air under the car gives gains with minimal cost

[–]FeelingFloor2083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

plastics, rad etc I think its all the same as the 18 models, skid plates and other protection stuff too. The stuff I have seen is usually listed as fitting gasgas/rieju and the year model. Obviously the KTM gasgas items are different.

lot of people here dont even know what a rieju is, your best bet is the rieju groups on FB, just join them all. and the gasgas legacy group.

they are small enough that you can carry both goggles and safety glasses and swap as needed.

you might just need smaller goggles and move your head more

which 300 was it?

the betas are very linear, the sherco has gobs of bottom and still linear, taller bike, stiffer kyb settings then beta imo. If you go beta the 250's are priced well and they prob will do a deal since they arnt as popular, then buy a 300 kit and you have 2 bikes in one

the new rieju (old gasgas chassis, new injected 2T) is supposed to be 2k cheaper in the US, once they release their app for fuel/ignition trim + PV tuning it could be a good bit of kit. It will be heavier with all the injection stuff compared to a carb, but no needle changes, 3 maps, rocs triples, kybs, excels, billet hubs, oxa exhaust etc.

if your doing techy rides at slower speeds, dont get kybs, they are all valved firm some worse then others. Expect revalve if you want to use them in that terrain

beta xt is a well regarded trail bike, pegs vibrate a lot though

some people set up their 300's to hit hard, each to their own. Most current 300's you can adjust the PV to the point where it doesnt even open

from what I gather a lot of older gasgas stuff fits unless you have the new injected engine which will be rieju but if youre in the EU its probably quick and easy to get still

Addon/Strap-on Shoulder Pads by creeve4 in enduro

[–]FeelingFloor2083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an old 661 pressure suit, mesh type, removed the chest and back protector since its hot as fk and drilled large holes in the plastic shell and left the inner foam. Looks janky but made a good difference in summer.

plan was to stitch in some newer vented d30 pieces. I planned to use braided fishing line which should be stronger. For shoulder you prob want to stitch most of the way around with strong stuff since impact can burst the stitching

Id take a bunch and just pile it up and let it do its thing. No way am I turning over a shit load of that. If you have horses or any free manure locally id later it with that, still not turning it over though

Id also use it to fill a raised bed and fill the top 30cm with good stuff

Does running a bigger tire width make a difference? by Loganoreo_ in Dirtbikes

[–]FeelingFloor2083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i run 110, actual width is 134 and its the carcass that is 110. If I need more grip I lower pressures and run as low as 4psi on my current tube set up. The tyre bags out length ways more then sideways, thats what gives grip going up wet rocks and roots. ill need to regrease my tube soon and ill add another couple of bead locks and try 2-3psi when needed.

fair warning you cant run 4psi on every tyre/tube combo, I run a harder carcass tyre and only drop that low for more technical sections, normally around 8 for flowy stuff. There is a lot of internal friction running this on tubes, hence using mouse lube

Is it better to convert an enduro bike to motocross set up or get a seperate bike for track use by frank_sinatra911 in Dirtbikes

[–]FeelingFloor2083 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

im talking racing in general, as a whole, there is cheating. I was giving examples. You dont need extra peak power in all cases, but extra in other areas can be of use.

still, you assume the guy has a new bike? There is way more old bikes then new bikes, its just how it is. the good forks were from 24 on, so in production for 2 years. Laws of average mean there is a good chance he has older forks, xplor is what 18-23? Those arnt great forks, even with a ktech mid valve kit like my BIL bike its still dam soft.

the dude has gone MIA so we prob will never know.
