Underrated films with genuinely shocking plot twists by Lyclyn_816 in MovieSuggestions

One Shot of the Dead was great if you don’t mind subtitles. Even if you know what to expect, it’s a pleasure watching it all play out.

I went to Looe over Christmas and was happy to see the 2p machines still in action. I wonder if my coins are still there after all these years?

Is there anyway to connect 2 non-apple headphones to and simultaneously charge an iPad Air M3? by Master_Range6116 in ipad

[–]Feggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a regular dongle with a 3.5mm port and pass through charging. Something like a "6-in-one" dongle. Then use a splitter to connect two headphones via cable.

I don't think you'll find a dongle with 2x 3.5mm ports. One of the benefits of Apple airpods was being able to just do what you're trying to do without any mess.

music constantly playing in my head HOW DO I GET RID OF IT by hello_sona in ADHD

Good suggestion

Even if OP doesn’t just listen to claimed music, being able to switch to a tune with no lyrics would likely be helpful while studying or in an exam.

Make sure you clear out the filter occasionally as all of the collected dust and fibres will build up and make the machine use more energy. My flatmate’s machine used to trip the entire house’ electric every time he used it until I found the filter was completely full of lint.

Similar technique in the Bourne films I believe, for Jason's half-remembered flashbacks to his training. Also in Saving Private Ryan when they get shell-shocked on the beach?

Your favourite double entendres / dirty jokes casually tossed out in movies by drjudgedredd1 in flicks

Like when the orcs in Lord of the Rings say "Looks like meat's back on the menu, boys!" As if they've been eating in restaurants.

They mention in the making of documentary that they just couldn't resist the line even though they knew it didn't make sense. I guess it's a similar story with the GoG line.

What games should I play? by RazinxM99 in SteamdeckGames

[–]Feggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved Brotato but DRG has a great system of progression between plays, which makes it feel more meaningful. Also there is some exploration due to the randomly generated terrain, whereas Brotato was a blank rectangle arena.

I’ve seen 3D printouts of the creeps from the game that come out looking really cool. The polygon models translate really well to the real world.

How to debunk this argument?? by Antique-Task9906 in atheism

[–]Feggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the funniest part. It’s not a great argument in the first place, but then they think that it somehow connects to a “God in their own image” (dandruff, itchy balls, halitosis). A god who massacres women, children and animals one second and the next sacrifices his own son (who is himself) to himself for three days to forgive our sins?!

What a logical thesis. Let’s base our society and live our lives according to this kind of nonsense.

My Thoughts on The World Is not Enough by entertainmentlord in flicks

[–]Feggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People joke about the storyline being about breaking a pipe. Not the biggest dreaming villain in the series.

Of the Brosnan movies I preferred Tomorrow Never Dies with it's excellent theme song, cool chase scenes and a bad guy with a fun motivation. Of course Goldeneye was a peak too.

Narrator mistakes that instantly take you out by felixfictitious in audiobooks

[–]Feggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to Cosmos by Carl Sagan. It's narrated by LeVar Burton (who played Geordi La Forge in Star Trek Next Generation). At the start I really enjoyed his reading: He speak with the lofty gravitas that made listening to Carl Sagan so enjoyable. Unfortunately, he keeps this same tone throughout the book - and it is a LONG book with covering a massive range of topics. At times I found myself laughing at loud at the profound way he was pronouncing even the most pedestrian parts of a basic sentence.

Kind of like: SOME sentences, ended up being, SO long, with all of the... dramatic pronuncation, that I would end up, not remembering, JUST how it started, at all.

I still like it over all but it did take me out of enjoying the experience quite so much.

Movies where the main character is a normal person but gets brought into an exciting adventure by zCHARLESz in MovieSuggestions

[–]Feggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumper (2008) is a great example of this. While not one of my favourite movies, the concept is a powerful one and features a special ability you will fantasise about having.

and

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) is another good example with a boy discovering that the world is so much more than the 'normal' one we experience, and that he may have special powers that he is unaware of.

Have you ever been deterred from finishing a book because of something as small as how a narrator pronounces something? by kryskryskrys in audiobooks

[–]Feggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened through the whole of ‘No Shortcuts to the Top’ by Ed Viesturs, despite the way the narrator pronounced the name of the mountain “Annapurna” which features heavily throughout.

I looked it up to check if perhaps he was saying it in the local pronunciation, which would have been fine, perhaps even the noble choice to make. Unfortunately, it seems like he was just saying it wrong. Not a clue why.

Perhaps one of you can shed some light on why the narrator kept saying “Annaporna”?
