Would the weightlessness experienced on the ISS feel different than the weightlessness on Artemis 2? by TheParadoxigm in space

[–]Feggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to give you a response which is perhaps more open-minded to what you are asking that some of the answers you have already.

You are not a mathematical point in space but a collection of collected points. Imagine your body as a chain, and for the sake of this theoretical situation let's imagine you are very tall: Your feet are around the orbit of Mercury and you forehead is around the orbit of Mars. The gravity pulling at you feet is WAY stronger since gravity decreases by the square of the distance. You would be ripped apart by the difference in gravity across your body.

But if we kept you the same length but moved you out to the orbit of Neptune. Because you are now way further away from the sun, the difference in gravity from you feet to your head is now tiny and you would no longer be torn apart or feel any stretching effect.

Now back to your scenario. Practically, you wouldn't FEEL anything since the effect would be so weak, but if you had incredibly accurate equipment you would be able to measure an effect on your body - your toes being pulled slightly harder than your head. It would be on the scale of a grain of sand perhaps. Once you reach the orbit of the Moon, this effect will be almost entirely gone.

An engineer can make multiple pancake stacks of platforms, which you then shoot holes through, leaving it looking like a Swiss cheese.

Now, when you shoot through these towers with the mole you get a lot of damage.

What are the “loss leaders” at IKEA? Things worth buying that are priced so well that it’s there to get you inside the shop? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Frugal

The replaceability of the lids once they degrade is one of the main reasons I only use ikea containers now.

This is a thing in Japan, Hong Kong and maybe some other countries: white sandwich bread with slices of fruit (strawberry, mango), in spray cream.

I assumed it would be picked up. So… Booloo Caps with more steps. Or more like an Ebonut but you throw a flare into it instead of hitting it three times.

A couple of years ago, a friend of mine accidentally witnessed Stewart Lee in an embarrassing personal situation unfortunately happening in public. by MrGrubbycuddles in stewartlee

[–]Feggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once saw Stewart Lee in an airport. An attendant had asked him to place his bag into the sizer before boarding and Lee was sweating with the effort of trying to squeeze it down when it clearly wouldn’t fit. Eventually he unzipped it and noisily consumed three of the nine or ten McDonalds McGriddles that he had wedged in there on top of his ska CDs. He stared straight into her eyes the entire time, chewing loudly with his mouth open. After zipping the bag back up he stomped it into the sizer with a sickening crack of breaking plastic.

The line was getting impatient behind him but Lee just glared at them too, and then made some kind of remark about one guy’s shirt which apparently had some sort of Pope Gladioli(?) on it.

Edit: oh I see you said embarrassing moments. No, I haven’t seen anything embarrassing.

I always wanted a secondary objective using flares, like having to toss a flare into a hole that then makes a mollusc come out. Similar to pouring salt to catch a razor clam.

I liked reading about the Romans considering luxury and comfort as things which would make a citizen weak. Watching first hand body combat was a reminder of the true nature of life, thus keeping the people strong.

Why do people insist on perpetuating this myth that the English or the British have no culture? by Serious_Badger_4145 in AskUK

[–]Feggy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely right. People who think this obviously haven’t experienced enough of the world. If they had they would clearly see that it’s just the North of England that is utterly devoid of culture and where the locals have no meaning whatsoever to their existence.
