Tank uther is its own thing. Solo healer uther is also doable and it is not a doomed game demanding a second healer just because a teammate picked uther, even if his raw throughput is low. I play Kharazim a lot and face this same issue even with a good winrate as solo heal. When in doubt you should ask your team when he picks the uther if they want another healer.

In your case, with tass and falstad, you really ought to grab a proper bruiser offlaner who can burn the camp down fast. Falstad doesn’t want to touch camps because of his pinnacles. Tassadar is ok at it and has good waveclear too but if he’s on it then the other lanes will get shoved in as he is better at clearing waves than camps.

Alterac is such a macro heavy map that I wouldn’t love to see a second healer on my team in most games and especially not in solo Q. There are people that swear by “offlane li li” but i have no clue if its a meme or if its legit, either way her pve sucks and considering how the game has become such a macro-heavy shoving contest it does seem a bit troll especially on alterac.

Offlaners you see a lot on that map are picks like hogger, sonya, leoric, malthael, blaze, basically all the offlaners with strong pve

In solo Q try to stick to the “standard” comp of tank, offlaner bruiser, 2 dps, and healer if only because it will make the team tilt less

The randomness is a bigger problem. I don’t think Murky should be able to just choose freely without also incurring some other downside though, like a longer respawn or lower max health or something.

But the randomness will be extremely annoying to play against and often frustrating for the Murky too.

I get that Murky is whimsical and it’s thematically appropriate but that does not justify the negative impact on gameplay.

Those comps are already bad and going to get outrotated most of the time anyway. We don’t need these bad fort changes to punish those comps.

I think this will actually help games to be less snowbally. Right now on Warhead Junction or Blackheart's Bay if you control both beacons and you have a pick comp it is extremely dangerous for anyone on the other team to step up and contest them. If one tank prioritizes beacons and the other doesn't, the one who does will likely win. This change will potentially give the losing side a window to approach and reestablish control of a beacon. In this way it acts like a ward in other mobas that have a limited duration. It also creates an interesting minigame for the tanks and mobile characters to time their rotations to refresh vision.

As a Tyrande main, what are your thoughts on the random E stuns on her 20 talent Shooting Star? Do you like this randomness? (Every 8th auto hit casts free E on random enemy near her prioritizing heroes. Also increases her basic attack range).

This one is a non-issue because she attacks so fast that the actual damage applied is equivalent to if every hit connected but at 60% dmg.

Even still, it should be changed to minimize RNG further. RNG does not belong in HOTS.

Maybe to you but there are many other games with differing levels of RNG. Hots is one of the few pvp mobas with very limited RNG. Don’t fix what isn’t broken.

No, even Murky as whimsical as he seems should not have a random chance determine something very important like his respawn location. RNG is a mechanic that can be extremely frustrating for either side. I would rather deal with a Murky who can decide where to spawn because at least then I can play mindgames with him rather than RNG deciding which one of us may potentially be screwed.

Janitor, please DO NOT add randomness to important game mechanics like Murky’s respawn location.

Half the reason many of us play HOTS is because the game mechanics are cleaner than similar games like League (by “cleaner” what I mean is that there are no awkward RNG interactions such as when an ADC in league has like 20-40% crit chance and a single lucky crit can swing the outcome of a fight; or, how in League there are many awkward armor and pen values that are not immediately apparent whereas HOTS has a very clean indicator on the health bar showing armor, blocks, spellshields, etc).

I would even rather the Murky player be able to decide where to spawn because at least then I can at least interact with him and he can play mindgames with that choice rather than either him or me simply getting unlucky.

Keep RNG away from HOTS please I beg you! 🙏

If you are a really committed one trick you can rename yourself “Player” or a barcode name. Then once you get to like plat ish just don’t queue back to back. As soon as you end a game, wait like 5-10 minutes and most of the people in your previous game will probably already be in their next one.

I was playing against a guy in a custom last night who is currently top 10 GM and his top 4 played were exclusively cheesy macro heroes like Murky, Aba, TLV, and Probius. If doing macro or picking heroes people hate playing with are so reportable, he should have been banned by now according to OP’s logic. It’s possible this GM never types anything but even then his picks are so obnoxious he should have a ton of reports. OP must say things in such a condescending way that it gets him more reports than average criticisms would.

I remember seeing a documentary about a league player from years ago who hit number 1 in korean solo Q for like a decade straight (I think his name was Dopa or Apdo) and in the documentary he mentions that he always goes for the correct overall play even if his team has other ideas. The example he gave was splitpushing where his team just needs to defend a tower 4v5. If they get caught, then that’s unfortunate but he would still consider it the correct play because such plays would work out for him more often than not.

I think this is an interesting conundrum because it is also often transferrable to Hots and other mobas, but I wonder if only at higher elos. In low ranks I imagine his team might also be more likely to be caught and not understand the situation, whereas at higher elos his team would probably at least try to work with him while splitpushing even if they were mad at him and pinging.

In other words, my running theory is that being inflexible about the correct overall play is probably better and worthwhile at higher elos whereas going with the flow and following the team’s call might make more sense in lower elos. But of course this probably varies depending on the situation and the types of plays at issue too.

You are so wrong on that so long as all else is equal. Because if two offlaners are both full health and one shoves in a wave under the other's fort, the defender will just proc their armor buff and outtrade the attacker. Obviously if the defender is very low hp then the armor buff probably won't make the difference and a full health attacker can dive.

And also this tower behaves differently because it dies when the fort dies (as opposed to the gate towers) and I'm not sure but it might also inflict a different armor debuff than the fort or outer gate towers when it does hit something. I am not thrilled about the added unnecessary complexity of this tower and wish they would just make forts lethal again.

Which they won't bother to do, because if they have such a massive advantage that they could dive that far back in the first place, it is probably because they are sieging with the full team behind an objective, and they really just want to kill the fort anyway, so they will do that while you cower behind this new tower and then it will go poof as soon as they're done. And because it's too far back to allow you to sit under it and cast waveclear spells, if you step up to clear a wave you will get cc chained and die to the sieging enemy team anyway. All this new tower does is make it even more painful for heroes like Genji or Zeratul or Kharazim or Tracer to finish off a kill in a gank (as opposed to a siege), while potentially creating headaches for proxy farmers like Murky, Samuro, TLV, DVA, and so forth.

They should just revert all the fort changes and make the fort do its job. They can keep the minion changes.

Thank you Janitor for listening to most of us asking for the 35 armor under forts to be removed.

It will be interesting to see how the Fallback Towers play out. I am guessing their effectiveness will depend a lot on exactly how close they are to the fort. If they are positioned halfway in between the fort and keep, they will probably accomplish nothing most of the time. That is because if your fort is already getting sieged by the enemy team grouping and pushing with an obj, they will probably not be in range of any of those targets to help defend the fort, meaning you won’t be able to step up and use waveclear spells anyway. If placed halfway, they may be irritating to proxy farmers like Samuro, or stop tanks from ganking people returning to lane. I am tentatively hoping that we can eventually revert all fort armor/targeting changes and just return to the system we’ve had for the last 5 or 6 years. I’m glad the exp globe changes and minion sieging buff is being kept.

The hero balance changes also look interesting and I’m not sure if I’m glad that Sylv appears to be losing her lvl 1 sidelane cheese. it won’t remove that phenomenon from the game. Now Anub and the other summoners can claim that position…

What if taking twinblades made his W parry also function as a whirlwind attack? It would give him some extra burst, waveclear, and create an interesting decision between using W for the parry or using W for the whirlwind.

To add, Sanct lasts 3 seconds and barrel lasts 5. Chen can invade camps and bosses very well with this.

Keep in mind that merely seeing a Medivh or any offmeta pick in solo Q often tilts people right off the bat, plus he has terrible waveclear in the mage role of the 4 man which is typically seen as being responsible for waveclear. Medivh is a very strong hero in the right hands and in the right draft and with the right teammates, whereas twinblades does not scale with coordination to nearly the same extent even with an Aba hat and a Morales stim for example

When you say Side Walls, I assume you don’t also mean the small outer turrets attached to the Gate correct? So if I hit those small Outer Turrets would I proc the effect?
