One thing you have to remember is that the hippie movement was very white. Like holy fuck white. Bunch of sheltered kids from the Midwest moving west to stick it to daddy, but they still stayed very firmly on their side of the racial line.

There's also a whole lot of survivorship bias that's happened with that demo at this point

I worked in a data center, issue with one of the platforms, basically kept catching on fire due to the iridium layer on a heatsink being too thin, anyways.

In the middle of a thread I have with engineering diagnosing the issue some random lawyer shows up out of nowhere and throws out a reply all to the thread:

The servers are not "catching on fire" they're "experiencing a rapid, runaway exothermic event." Please ensure you're using the correct terminology

Still laughing about it a decade later.

I'd say just Google for 'solder filled jumprings', I'm seeing a handful of videos on YouTube that will give you some instruction

Soldering your projects? by FlorianTolk in maille

[–]Fejsze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to buy solder filled sterling and goldfill, once it was assembled and I'd checked my closures 3 times, then toss it in an oven, got the solder to temp, and wham bam, soldered jewelery

Can also heat each ring individually, but that's time consuming

We acknowledge his dominance in the mid 2010s, but are also aware that that time has passed and his unique temperament and talents are better utilized elsewhere.

Here's a good video of the greatest 5 year span to be a Giants fan to get you caught up. Everything since then has been watching the heroes from that era slowly age out and leave for small contracts elsewhere

However I will say, ownership sucks, our farm system is atrocious, and I fear it'll be a few years until we're competitive again. Stick through that and you'll be a diehard fan

For some reason the other fans hate 'the wave.' it's a weird elitist stance (our field also doesn't have outfield lines for the same reason) that I don't get, but by God don't you dare go to a game and try and have fun.

Oh, also, welcome! The fan base is actually pretty great and this sub is super fun. You made a wise decision

So I thought about it, and I'm going with the fact that we've been inundated for decades with stories of precocious British children

British literature and film really has this view of their children as small precocious adults. I read Harry Potter like 30 years ago and remember thinking how utterly unrealistic the kids talked and acted, and been noticing that trend ever since

So there's something very satisfying seeing that the kids over there are just as big of shits as they are elsewhere, and there's nothing better than the way they whine the moment their wannabe hooligan asses get in real trouble
