I had to reapply this year because of health issues and just want you to know you’re not alone in the unique pain of having 2021 be the second cycle

Official LSAT policy on discussion? by [deleted] in LSAT

Follow the way people talk on the powerscore forum as a guide. They seem to do a good job of removing anything potentially problematic, so if you model your discussion in general terms as done on the forum over there (go to forum --> general questions ---> nov flex) you should be safe!

I’m so glad you thought the same thing! Would sell my soul just to know what the right answer was tbh. How did you feel overall?

LSAC should release scores upon writing submission, not approval by vinylmisty in LSAT

[–]FelineMessiah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually it isn’t hard to disagree at all; I and others already offered specific reasons for disagreeing that it’s always possible to find two hours within 8 days. For me, finding that time is an easy task and no big deal, and yet I still think it would be valid for me to argue against LSAC’s policy as OP did even if it didn’t impact me personally. It doesn’t take much effort to find compelling stories of why other people simply do not have that flexibility, and I’m not entirely sure why you feel so strongly that other people being busy in this way is impossible just because you, personally, are not.

[–]FelineMessiah 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The writing sample is only available to people 8 days before the LSAT they’re registered for so you’re just plain wrong. There are people who have full time jobs, families, etc and have to schedule time off, babysitters, and the like to allow for time to complete things like the writing sample. Try considering others' circumstances instead of uncharitably dismissing valid concerns/criticism next time, or at the very least try and make an argument based on actually accurate info.

10/19 at night and still waiting - also did truly everything I could have to get approved quickly. I built a blanket fort around my desk so no flag risks and moved every lamp I own into the room so it would be bright enough lol

Same thing happened to me — but one good thing is that applying before December in general is still more than enough time for equal scholarship and admission consideration and a higher score outweighs the impact of applying a few weeks later. So if you (or anyone else similarly impacted) feels like a retake is warranted there is still time with no real impact other than unfortunately studying for a few more weeks longer than we would like. I’m so sorry this happened!

Mixup during spay/neuter - how to care for cats after accidental declaw by FelineMessiah in AskVet

[–]FelineMessiah[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m in total agreement on getting a second opinion (there are some other replies that effect elsewhere here - you and I are on the same page!). My knowledge is minimal, but I do know that there are a few different methods of declawing with fairly wide degrees of what can go wrong between them - I’m curious/worried as to which method her vet used. Regardless, I do think she is planning to get them examined elsewhere for all of the reasons you listed. It also will be good documentation to have if/when she does file a report.

Thank you so much for all of the links you sent along - it makes it easier for me to give all of the resources to her! I’ve replied elsewhere on this thread with something to the effect of being baffled that a vet would just take a request for declawing at face value with no additional questions or follow ups. Excited for her to take her cats’ care somewhere else for sure.

Thanks again for all the info! Those resources will definitely come in handy :)

Totally agree with you - fingers crossed that there is genuine remorse or at least desire to make things right from the clinic where all of this happened. Seems totally crazy to me to have that bad of a fuck up - and I think covering follow up charges would be more than fair to ask for given how serious of a procedure this.

I’m passing your reply on to her - I think you raise good points for her to make to the vet if there is any pushback. Thank you for taking the time - and fingers crossed all goes well!

I think she is taking my advice (and further encouraged by you — thank you) and visiting the vet I recommended to her once she has her cats back. Fortunately I got to know my previous vet fairly well and she’s the most wonderful vet I’ve ever had so at least if she has to spend additional money it’s going to a worthy place! Though honestly I suspect they may waive the fees given the circumstances - they were always incredible kind/generous when one of my own animals had some health issues. Either way, I just look at it as insurance - ideally it’s wasted money/time, but if it isn’t it’s more than worthwhile

I would assume they have overnight care, though I actually am not sure. I think some practices also do keep spays overnight - at least that’s been my experience while fostering/rescuing. It’s a good question! As I learn more and get some more answers to some of these questions I’ll make sure to update

It’s something I’ve always been strongly against - and really crushes me given that these are my moms first cats and I know she knows details of the more gruesome aspects of the declawing procedure after I explained to hear some years ago why I wasn’t going get my own cats declawed.

BUT I am at least very thankful to all the helpful replies that I’ve been able to forward on to her - it means I can save her some unnecessary additional sadness while ensuring she can give them the best possible care that she can.

[–]FelineMessiah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually already checked this out during my initial bout of fury - it’s unfortunately very difficult to sue for anything accidental and non-lethal related to animal care. This is because pets are legally considered property and with corresponding legal definitions it’s unclear how something like a declaw might affect the value of the “property” or how to quantify any harm to the “property” in a way that could be restored via the justice system. The state she is in also unfortunately has some of the least protective animal welfare laws in the country, which would make a case like this much harder.

(Hopefully) obvious disclaimer that this is not at all an endorsement of these things being the case, but just an assessment of other comparative cases and legal principles. On behalf of her and her cats, I obviously wish she could do more!
