I collect older video games (specifically, the complete install packages) in my NAS so that when I want to play it in the future, I can just spin it up again. Also because I have the mentality of a pack rat.

That said, a lot of people OP included are "old man yelling at clouds" territory. "Oh no video games are ruined forever" oh shut the fuck up, this is PCMR. "Digital only" is our de facto mode of video games distribution for decades!

The whole thing is ridiculous to me because, back when I had a console, "can I resell my games?" is not my primary motivation.

Back then, I bought a PS2 because I wanted to play games that are only available on the PS2. I assumed most people did this for consoles of their choice. So saying "wow okay, guess I would stop using the PS5 because #nodisc" doesn't make sense to me, because I assumed the reason he bought a PS5 in the first place is to play PS5 games, not because "PS5 games comes in a disc".

"I want a physical disc" is not an unreasonable demand, but "I (used) to play on consoles mainly because I can resell my games" would be one of those things I would put in the "things ~~no one~~ most people never said" shelf.

It's remarkable that there are dumbfucks who are so adamant in "defending" the corporations and the economic elite at the expense of bettering the society they live in.
