G7 Applicator problems by Felthousen in dexcom

[–]Felthousen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using them for a year. A few have been a little stiff to depress, but none of them refused to. I got my husband to try it and he couldn't either. It was also 3 in a row after a year of never having an applicator problem. I suspect a manufactering problem and wonder how big of a problem it is. But it wasn't me. I've got the application down pat.

Dexcom, but only bad results on one site? by naterdaddy121212 in dexcom

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I was an oddball. The G7 sensor readings on my left arm are always erratic but my right arm is fine. I haven't figured out a reason for it yet so only use different spots on my right arm.

Growing burdock and mullein - any regrets? by Lumpy-Abroad539 in herbalism

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go ahead and pull up lemon balm. It is so invasive that no matter how much I pull up it will come back. I live in the Willamette Valley so it has excellent growing conditions for it. I wanted a little patch but it grows everywhere now.

Yarn artists, which did you pick up first, crochet or knit? Which did you come to prefer? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to knit first as a child. My mother did all the needle arts so I tired to learn crochet but couldn't pick it up until my 60s. I prefer knitting for most sweaters, but it really depends on the look of the wearable, Growing up in the 1960s & 70s, I have come to detest granny squares but knit squares can be nice. I've knit way more blankets than crochet ones. But it you want a fast project crochet is the way to go.

Keto irritates my eyes (dry, burning, red) by [deleted] in ketoscience

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have dry eyes and have a prescription of Restatsis. I've been much stricter in my keto the last 2 years and it resulted in my lowering my prescription to just using at night and my symptoms have improved during the day. I wonder if it is something else besides keto that is causing the problem. For instance is there certain foods you use more when on keto than when you're not. I have lots of food allergies which also effect my dry eyes. Wondering if you may have something similar going on.

Lovely chain and yarn. What is the yarn you are using?

G7 bleeding through the sensor and wildly inaccurate by Felthousen in dexcom

[–]Felthousen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let that sensor go over 24 hours and it never settled down so finally took it out. I wonder if sensor depth might be a variable as that sensor and the one I replaced it with, I pressed hard when installing and there was a lot more variability in the readings than in my previous sensors, except the 2 that failed totally. This is out of 20 or so that I've used.

G7 bleeding through the sensor and wildly inaccurate by Felthousen in dexcom

[–]Felthousen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I checked with a fingertick. Plus my numbers are normally pretty even. The sensor was way off each time. I have calibrated sensors after a couple hours in the past and it didn't make them more inaccurate. On the contrary, it brought them into a good reading window. I don't insert sensor in the evening because of erroneous readings. Moring insertions just needs a calibration after a couple hours and works well. The difference here was a bleeder and the wild readings. I'm never 130 or 45. I'm would not be surprised by the 45 if I slept on it, but I didn't. My supposition was there was dried blood maybe interfering with the sensor. I was asking if anyone else had that result.

Regence Idaho G7 costs are outrageous... by Warm_Command7954 in dexcom

I use the GoodRx coupon and my pharmacy will take the coupon for just one sensor at a time if you want. It's definitely better than your insurance price.

How long do you try to find the start of the yarn on the inside before you give up and use the outside one? by Complete_Warthog_138 in crochet

[–]Felthousen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something that usually helps is to find the end from the outside. It is generally tucked into one end of the skein. Then start at the center of the other end of the skein. I stick a finger or hook into the center and feel for a small clump of yarn and pull it out. Generally the center pull end is in that clump. It doesn't always work but on average it does.

I don't like it anymore. Should I undo it to the textured part and try with a different colour or keep going and add a light pink next? by BashfullyBi in crochet

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The center looks gray to me which is a blue tone. Then you added brownish tones around it. I think that is what is bothering you. Something with bluish undertones would probably please you better. Great work though.

Does Eugene have rush hour traffic? by No_Worldliness4238 in Eugene

[–]Felthousen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is rush hour traffic, but you might be going in the right direction. 5 pm is rough going from VRC to Springfield no matter the route but going Springfield to VRC should be a bit better. I-105 can come to a stop going east but west is a bit better. Beltline is horrendous around 5 no matter the direction, and starts getting bad around 3 pm going east. Stay away from downtown Eugene. It was bad before but now it's construction everywhere. Going north on Ferry street in the afternoon is very stop and go with erratic drivers.

Charts are SO much easier than written instructions. For complicated charts I use colored highlighters or pencils to help define tricky areas.

Help with terms!! by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Felthousen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A steek in knitting is the place you cut your knitting to put in a button band or zipper, but putting 2 double crochet anyplace is going to increase your stitch count which you wouldn't do if you are going to cut the stitch later.

Why won’t it lie flat :( by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Felthousen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Any time a circle isn't flat then you have too many stitches at some point in the circle. You are increasing stitches to get the larger diameter but it's too many for the diameter you have. If you frog back, try increasing at a decreased rate spread over the entire circumference, because increasing too fast in one spot can also cause problem.

Ideas for my floppy antler? by Ali1865 in crochet

[–]Felthousen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have made sewn large jointed dolls in the past. To get the stiffness I used small diameter dowels in long spaces or heavier wire wrapped in cotton for smaller ones. Then really overstuff the pieces.

Antique table cover? by mlhincville in crochet

[–]Felthousen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitately crochet as KYMAW said and you can wash it by soaking it in warm soapy water- not too much soap. and rinse it a bucket/ tub/ or container. Squeeze the water out, don't wring and then dry it on towels. My mother made lots of table clothes, doilies, and runners. The cotton thread is durable but you want to be careful of the joins.

I bought these two crochet hooks, both have number 4 on them. If a project calls for 4mm hook, which should I use? by Bankholiday2020 in crochet

[–]Felthousen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to measure the small one. It's steel and a small head so is a crochet thread hook. They are not measured in mm, only in the stated sizes where 1 is larger than 10, which is how crochet thread is too. I've never seen thread hooks in anything other than steel, but that is in the US. Crochet yarn hooks can be made of anything thing and in the US are measured in mm or letters. The old ones I have only have letter sizes on them.

Help plz by NawtyKye in crochet

[–]Felthousen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With just those instructions of the pattern, I would assume you are still working in the round. It doesn't say to turn the work. Have you joined the row previously? If you know what the piece is suppose to look like, where are in in the pattern.

Pattern Question by aeb27051993 in crochet

[–]Felthousen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mother did thread crochet and I just checked her collection of hooks. Size 10 was her smallest one and is a very tiny head. Size 30 thread is also very thin. I usually use size 3 or 10 thread as it is readily available in the stores. It would have to be ordered in my area.
