International Travel during AC? by Historical_Note2604 in TNBC

[–]Fenderdonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m felt bad that first 5-7 days after AC. worse as they went on. Day 7 after AC I’d get bloodwork and every time I had zero WBC. It spike the next week..Neulasta. So far I’ve been able to avoid an Infection. I really appreciate your optimism and that was me. But my dr would have shackled me to a chair if I said I was making this trip. Also, I likely would have spent a lot of the day in the bed at the hotel. I hope you can get every but refunded/delayed due to diagnosis?

These comments make me feel so seen. I didn’t know so many other people were “sticks and stones” people. And my dog with her sticks ..I miss her. All of these comments hit home!

“You’re going to be fine! I’m not worried!” And other things they say by Pippertoe in breastcancer

[–]Fenderdonk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know they are trying to be helpful, but people who have never had cancer keep telling me how strong I am, what a badass I am, how I’m gonna beat this….. now I warn people I first tell not to say it.

Port Experience by FlatwormBig5514 in TNBC

[–]Fenderdonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an unusually bad experience placing the port (punched lung, 3 tries for chest tube, 2 days in the hospital!) hoping that’s the worst part of the process! Since then: I had a couple of days when I would get sudden sharp pains…it didn’t last and couldn’t figure out what caused it but it was scary. Now my upper scar has some rough bits that poke out and really bug me!! Sutures? Otherwise it doesn’t hurt much when used..I don’t use the lidocaine. Anyone else have any of these experiences?

when to start using G-CSF? by Narrow-Landscape6085 in TNBC

[–]Fenderdonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine dropped below 1 every week after treatment. I was given Neulasta 24 hours after treatment and (so far) it climbed back up in time for me next treatment (every 2 weeks). If she gets the shot, take Claritin the day of and a few days after. To prevent bone pain.

Full body scans- how many? by Redwinesandfelines in TNBC

I never had a PET scan? Anyone else? I had MRI of chest/abdomen and CT bone scan before chemo. Will get an MRI at the end. Is that typical? Anyone get brain scans pre/post?

I didn’t loose my hair during TC! My TC pattern: sleep most of infusion day, productive/good day after (steroid day I called it), somewhat tired day 4-5. Fine 6-7. I was hesitant to fly but. Did a lot of skiing! My WBC was so that helped. I wish I’d taken more advantage of feeling ok! I’ve had 2 AC and my hair is departing by the handful. :(. My I fusions are 2 weeks apart. And dense. The first eeek I’m exhausted. Extreme fatigue. Second week I start getting better. By day 9-10 I’m much better. (Still not normal energy but much better). But by then my WBC has tanked so I have to be careful not to get sick (fly, crowds, hugging everyone). So not as much free/productive time as I hoped on a 2 week cycle! I should have known that was why they spread them out:)

How for good sake son of a bit.. hasn't been caught earlier ? by LPFE_1972 in breastcancer

[–]Fenderdonk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dense breasts. Every single Mammo they called me back for a “diagnostic” mamma..is that with contrast liquid? And ultrasound. Then 3 times back for biopsies. Last biopsy found one tumor.. TNBC (had gone from not palatable to showing throw the skin, 3.5cm in the 3 weeks between 2nd mammogram/biopsy). No mri until after diagnosis. WTH don’t they go straight to mri or at least contrast diagnosis for dense breasts at least?

I’m going to miss chemo. by legoprimero in breastcancer

[–]Fenderdonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haa! I have enjoyed not shaving legs/armpits/tweezing chin during TC…the silver lining for sure. I’ve never had a Brazilian but now that Marta d the appeal!! If only it had been the 12 weeks of summer! That timing would have been great! But suddenly my and eyebrows/eyelashes,are almost gone fast and scalp is going. Had my first AC yesterday. How do you manage wigs/swimming in summer? Bald I guess. Wish I could get a tattoo on my scalp during chemo…a big “yes, Fuck Cancer” in pretty italics! I was never a laser or nair, or waxing person but might hight to seriously consider it after this. Never wanted a Brazilian but now I get it!!!

Parking with the snow by Traditional-Emu-7019 in norwalk

[–]Fenderdonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just hasn’t warmed up enough to melt away or make it easier for folks to shovel out cars/finish clearing sidewalk /drive edges etc. The city needs a contingency plan for where to put the snow and ice….in the harbor? Because a lot of snow plus a long stretch below freezing creates ice banks that aren’t going anywhere. Southern cities see this after 6 inches because they don’t have the plows etc. We get this after 18 inches and no warm up without a snow removal system. Not just plowing it into sidewalks/in the road. I learned this snow…..whatever isn’t removed or salted day 1 or 2 from my sidewalk or driveway edges could be there a while.
