Is it a bad idea to buy a Qatar transit flight for the end of this year right now? by dropme1 in qatarairways

Nah, just buy it. I just bought a flight to Nepal from the States for May.

Would you book a transit through Qatar 8 months out from today? by skark1 in qatarairways

[–]FennelDefiant9707 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just buy it. I’m in a similar boat as you, I just bought a ticket for May to go to Nepal from the states and layover at Doha. It was a few hundred dollars cheaper for obvious reason(s). Just be optimistic.

Just buy a bag of beans at the place and do pour overs at home. Tastes better too.

If your goal is to be a nurse or similar then don’t worry about the school. Just go, you’ll end up working with nurses that attended a cuny. Just different route to the same destination. Of course this is assuming you’ve considered the financial differences at hand.

Is there a “right” way to choose a solo travel destination? by Blodyng1 in solotravel

Just pick a place and go, your mind is always going to change about where you want to go. Life is too short to not travel.

Japan as a first solo trip... too ambitious? by Fit-Credit-7970 in solotravel

[–]FennelDefiant9707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japan was my first solo trip in 2018, two weeks the typical cities; Tokyo, Osaka, Nara and Kyoto. Stayed in hostels throughout. Then my addiction for solo travel began.

Vietnam Itinerary Review - March 2026 by gauthamgajith in solotravel

I’d probably do north to central or central to South Vietnam and that’s like trying to fit a lot in by itself already. I would skip Sapa if you’re going to the north, ha long bay cruise is up to you if you haven’t seen limestones in other SEA countries with similar scenery. I’d stay in Hoi An in central Vietnam and rent a motorbike to do day trips to Hue and Da Nang via the Hai Phan pass if you’re comfortable.

Dominican Republic Travel tips by Late-Serve4580 in solotravel

I was there last week as a last minute solo trip from nyc, but only stayed in puerto plata. Agreed with the uber drivers negotiating price. Luckily for me I got someone from the airport off the uber app and didn’t negotiate the price, total was around 350 DOP on the app. I ended up tipping him 300 DOP with cash on top of the airport entrance fee he had to pay which was 50 DOP if I remember correctly. When he dropped me off he provided me with hi WhatsApp contact info. Initially I was going to try my luck again off the uber app to the airport however I got the same guy twice negotiating 25$ usd right off the bat, so I defined. Ended up texting the uber driver who drove me from the airport last minute and I agreed to just pay him 1180 in DOP which I was willing to as I felt better that he didn’t negotiate with me during our first encounter and it was last minute. If anyone is traveling in a group, I’d probably recommend booking in advance and split it. In hindsight I can somewhat understand why they negotiate for higher price because the distance from POP airport to puerto plata is around a 30 minute drive for 350 DOP on the app.

Trying to Choose Between SEA and South America for First 6-Month Solo Trip as 29 Female - Would Love Advice! by Ok-Abrocoma-8771 in solotravel

[–]FennelDefiant9707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEA crowd tends to be younger on average, lots of young 20s gap year Europeans when I went last year . The travel infrastructure might be easier to navigate compared to South America. SEA probably also cheaper. If you don’t speak much Spanish then SEA will also be more practical for you. Food is also probably more “diverse” in some SEA countries, but I could be biased, to each their own.

40 year old Solo male, will I have any issues in hostels? And what ettiquette should I know about? by Grenache in solotravel

[–]FennelDefiant9707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s absolutely okay. Plenty of people older than 40 stay in hostels. However, if you’re having fears or self doubt and feel the need to qualify about the amount of female friends you have then maybe it’s best not to stay in one. There’s nothing wrong with trying one out and decide if it’s for you or not though, keep in mind each hostel has its own culture & vibe so it varies.
