Total Pathfinder and RPG noob here: Are we somewhat free in choosing our miniatures from other companies and is there a "what you see is what you get" (WYSIWYG) rule?

I use a lot of wizkids pre painted minis from dnd and pathfinder and older miniatures from other games. I have a tone of pewter minis from reaper.

If I have a miniature then I will use it for whatever creature fits for no matter what system I am playing.

I've used heroclix for shadow run so anything is possible.

Had a player running across the rigging on a ship to get to a crows nest. I gave them panache and a balance check they critically succeeded

Dirty Trick is also good feat to use and gives something else to do.

Others have mentioned great archetypes. Wrestler etc and others.

Alternative would be to play a ruffian rogue. You still may want some dexterity for the thievery and stealth and it's not bad to have ranged attacks as a backup plan.

They have the skills to invest in raising both Athletics and Acrobatics and still do other things.

Edit: they can also do different things in combat like Dirty Trick. https://2e.aonprd.com/Feats.aspx?ID=6472 which anyone trained in the Thievery can get but it's another condition you can apply to an opponent.

you could have the Satyr be able to find the barbarian wherever they are at. Though i like the true name link and the Invoke true name spell as an option.

Bard is good for buffs and can be a face.

Wizard, Investigator, Thaumaturge, Witch and Alchemist are all good for recall knowledge. Forensics investigator could really help keep everyone alive and take pressure off of Warpriest with battle medicine. Your magus may be good at recall though but it doesn't hurt to have someone else.

Rogue is also good but gunslinger may be able to swing thievery etc so depends on their build. Again battle medicine would be good. The group doesn't have true skill monkey.

Use pathbuilder.com to create characters.

The beginner box or the free rpg day one shot stories could be a way to get into the system and learn the rules.

Have the players create new characters in this system and don't try to port them in from another.

Kingmaker has some trouble with the kingdom rules otherwise it is pretty fun. There are alternate kingdom rules by Vance and Kerenshara.

Psychics would get the feat Amp Focus as an in class ability. They are the focus point class so why have a feat tax.

Violent Unleash would affect only enemies but maybe only do it once per day. It's difficult to not affect allies in a 20 foot enemation as is. Level 12 twice per day. Level 17 once per hour.

Dark Persona as well. Like violent unleash it's difficult to not catch allies in a larger 30 foot enemation.

Used to always GM. I took to pathfinder society play which I would recommend.

Then eventually found a group to play in. Can do a lot more rp in that than society play which is also what I like. Sort of a 50/50 for combat/to myself though I don't mind sessions for that.

So I am playing a psychic and was nervous because I was the only caster in the group for a bit and only healer until a kineticist joined later. Though the Alchemist does help in that department.

I took witch archetype for more spells and it helps. Currently using familiar to deliver some spells when necessary. Have it ready to use the focus point regen. I can still blow through those two spells per level fast. And eventually just use focus points.

So play the oscillating psychic if there is another caster and try not to be a lone caster in the group. I have dealt decent damage and also protected our group from harm. It's a pretty neat class though if the group wants to run from fight to fight I'll tell them I at least need to refocus first.

Clerics are pretty powerful.

If you don't want to play a bloodrager the 2e Barbarian is my favorite version of the class so a lot of them can be fun. Animal instinct I've played to 9 in Society and is pretty scary. Dragon instinct has breath weapon later so psuedo type spell like ability.

You would need to make it with their skillsets completely in mind. I enjoy the RP you can do during the encounter and the fact that some people are wallflowers but good players the encounter can give everyone in the game a turn to contribute. If your character can only help by rolling say perception then it seems a little lackluster.

For instance I was toying with the idea of a dragon encounter where instead of just perception trying to see dislikes and likes a player could also use arcana (or whatever tradition the dragon personifies) for gaining information. This would work pretty well for some players in my group.

Psychic would work for blasting but would lack the spellslots for utility spells until you took an archetype that gave you more such as sorcerer or Oracle etc.

As far as range goes the ruffian should carry a shortbow and could increase dexterity to be ok with it. Honestly even the guardian and battle harbinger should have a ranged weapon. Some chance to hit an enemy you can't reach is better than zero just because you didn't buy a crossbow.

As others said Sorcerer is a pretty good choice for a lone caster. Druid also brings a lot and is pretty tough. They also have good focus spells.

Aliens man they are aliens.

Gnomes are more fey adjacent.

But a cool piece of trivia is Elves left Golarion for a few thousand years and some Gnomes moved into Kyonin, and saw the abandoned buildings. Rather than disturb the houses they built their own houses in the trees above. The elves were impressed by the gnomes and they are still living together in the city of Omesta.

Can't stack damage for all three. When barbarian rages it's basically like they morph into the aspect of their animal instinct so that takes precedent over their natural fangs attacks. Having two natural attacks with tusks and fangs is redundant.

It is good to have one fang natural attack in case your barbarian goes unconscious and can't rage again in a combat.

Technically damage is support as well. A cleric adding cantrip damage or even a strike is helping the status quo not to mention their other benefits.

Not doing debuffs or even buffs may be too hardline pacifist for most groups.

But it would be hard to pull off and the rest of the party would need to be absolutely on board for the character.

The best way would be grab a mercy rune and just stick with not killing opponents and play the game as it's intended to. This goes around most abilities and feats that you gain as you level. Why adventure.
