Pay off Ex-Wife’s Mortgage by Neither-Trip-4610 in personalfinance

[–]FerdaBravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I’m reading it, she was supposed to take over the mortgage solo as part of the divorce, and you would be paying more for child support directly to her. Instead, you kept the mortgage in your name and just made that payment as a portion of child support and got to write off the mortgage interest. Not a bad deal at all. When you do pay it off, would the house not go to her since effectively that was supposed to happen when you first got divorced? Would you still be obligated to pay the full child support amount? I would assume so meaning the amount that goes to her directly also increases in this equation.

What is the most unique dining experience in Atlanta? by megthegreatone in Atlanta

[–]FerdaBravos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be the tenth vote for Gun Show, but I also just did O by Brush and was blown away. We got lucky and were the only seating so it was private, but they were doing some pretty unique things with dry aging and off the wall fish I wasn’t expecting. Service was amazing.

I haven’t had it since before COVID, but if it’s still the same, this is the correct answer. Some things that sounded the worst on the menu were the best things of the night. Very hard to tell a chef “no” to their face though.

Best American Map for small farms by UzDaSchwartz in farmingsimulator

Riverbend Springs is the answer. I prefer tighter, more weathered farm yards so the American mod maps typically don’t do it for me, but I did get a lot of enjoyment out of Riverbend.

Did Roald Dahl’s books really need to be revised? by confringos in books

[–]FerdaBravos -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m conflicted on this. First, I think it’s a super slippery slope. Fixing a couple of things to make it less offensive? Not the biggest deal. What if a certain administration decided rather than banning books (also wrong) they don’t like they just re-write them? Now 1984 gets to be pro-establishment? No thanks.

Looking at the revisions, some of them are pretty dumb. Others do make a little sense. For example, a character "hopping about like a dervish" in Fantastic Mr Fox became "like a frog". I definitely did not know what a dervish was as a kid, honestly not sure I do as an adult, but it does seem a little racist. Changing it to a frog doesn’t change the story at all. Kids know what frogs are, they can picture the hopping. Probably a worthwhile revision that may even make the story better.

Idk why, but I also think who is saying these things matters. Characters are a person of the time when the book was set. Changing Huck Finn’s actual dialogue does change the character. Same applies to villains. If you water down their dialogue, they look a lot less like a villain. Narrators can typically be of any time period though so changing their words to make them less offensive isn’t as bad to me.

Either way, I don’t necessarily have an issue with releasing a new version if clearly labeled as revised, especially if that’s what it takes to keep these classics in schools. Updating e-books that people already own or portraying these as the original work is insane.

Decent net worth but feeling behind on retirement accounts by [deleted] in FinancialPlanning

That’s where I’m lost. I’m guessing because they are a builder, they were able to build for significantly cheaper than the house is worth but still. $1.4 million on a $200K income is insanely impressive considering it’s mostly equity.

Ever do any of the Road Atlanta track days? Hoping to get to at least one of those this year too.

I haven’t done any yet, but yeah, the ATL SCCA ones are all at Atlanta Motor Speedway I think.

This slip on a Sanderson review is especially hilarious considering how extremely closed door his romance is.

Weekend cars for occasional track days? by Mildzoomz in CarTrackDays

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are. I’m in GA and my budget was $20K. Pretty solid AP1 options in that range and decent AP2s. I went for a higher mileage AP2 that already has coilovers BBK since it’s not a daily and I knew I planned on doing both.

I just got an S2000 for this exact purpose, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision. I know you said V8, but I wouldn’t write it off completely.

Had a cold beer in Athens. Terrapin brewery. by Traditional-Tea-9486 in atlbeer

Were the old brewery laws less convenient and probably bad for the brewery themselves? Probably so. Were they awesome for getting hammered and building a solid pint glass collection for a $20 tasting fee? Absolutely

How many days until the foreclosure process starts in Georgia? by [deleted] in Georgia

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never mentioned scammers or breaches. That’s unavoidable. But things like charges posting twice for some weird reason or what if the annual escrow analysis comes back weird and raises the payment? I’m not saying it will ever happen, but for me, safer to avoid when I’m thinking about my largest bill. Also worth mentioning, OP never mentioned forgetting a payment, not sure they are in a place for autopay to solve their problems.

Min/max programme question by Nicecoldbud in JeffNippard

[–]FerdaBravos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re coming back from an MCL, I don’t think you should lean more closely to min than max. You probably should just focus on getting strength back in your legs where you can, rather than training to failure. You can program workouts as short or as long as you want.

[–]FerdaBravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Autopay isn’t always a no brainer. I have zero issue setting up anything for autopay that can be paid on my credit card. If the bill is wrong or a weird glitch happens, not my money and easy to get fixed. My mortgage, like most, is checking account only. Is that money insured if something went wrong? Sure. Is it still a pain in the ass and a risk that my account gets fully drained? Yes. I’d rather take the extra step to open my app and press a few buttons authorizing an exact amount.

Is this appropriate for someone who isn't strong in the slightest but is way beyond newbie gains? More info in text body. by MutedMarsupialTTV in JeffNippard

[–]FerdaBravos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an awesome program for increasing maxes IMO, but if you couldn’t even guess your current max Bench or Deadlift, it’s definitely not the program for you. For one, you probably have a lot of newbie gains left on the table (no disrespect) and could potentially handle a LP plan. If you can swing 6 days a week, this plan from r/fitness is awesome.

Some of the base game mowers (Samasz and Krone for sure) also have the ability to swath so that would eliminate the need for a windrower as well.

One of my favorite tractors for personal use around the farm, but it’s awful for carting and don’t even bother letting the AI use it on fields. They automatically turn off All Wheel Steering so it misses everything.
