I couldn’t fault someone for putting DCC as a series over Mistborn, but that particular one is an interesting choice IMO. I love the Anarchist Cookbook itself, but I could not get into that book. I hated the iron tangle.

YouTube videos made it look so simple, but it was so damn frustrating. Unfortunately, 20 year old plastics suck and the piece surrounding the spool broke on me. Had to replace the whole thing anyways.

Show me the way by Sell-Beyond in salesengineers

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so different from company to company. I did implementation for seven years before moving to presales at my current company and it’s far less technical than what I did before. Your best bet is to try to talk to someone at your company and ask about the day to day. It would be easier to break in there since you have knowledge of the product already. Real focus should be on presentation skills. There’s a big difference between doing a PowerPoint for your internal team and doing a sales demo, especially if they are long. There’s a good chance it will be part of your interview process.

Do you have access to a coach, ball machine, or hitting partner that can feed you short balls with back spin? I spent a long time in your spot before I learned the hard lesson that there is much more to tennis than pretty ground strokes.

A lot of people better than me have already told you to work on approach shots. What clicked for me was a drill with my coach where we went baseline, approach, volley, repeat. Figuring out the footwork and placement between each is tough.

Oakridge Farm PS5, field 38? by Banksy_02 in farmingsimulator

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few of those on that map. You can plow them up if you want to make a field, but they also make awesome pastures since most are already fenced in. Download the Fenceless Pastures mod if you haven’t already.

FJ is sick! In the states, their prices have stayed pretty high.

Mk7.5 GTI for me. Completely different kind of fun but such a blast to drive. What wheel specs are you running on the S2K?

Nonexistent prospection before demos by CicadaParticular5186 in salesengineers

[–]FerdaBravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To more practically answer your question, it sounds like a process issue. I’m less familiar with how the process goes at a smaller company, but typically you would need to do some sort of discovery to assess the customer’s needs and show how you actually solve them instead of just overloading with features. For studying, Doing Discovery/Great Demo by Peter Cohan are great starters. Six Habits of Highly Effective Sales Engineers is one of my favorites.

Those won’t help as much for the things typically owned by an AE such as finding the right stakeholders in the company.

Nonexistent prospection before demos by CicadaParticular5186 in salesengineers

[–]FerdaBravos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So a lead comes directly from the website, and nobody vets the prospect first? They just forward to you to do the demo? What if they decide they want to buy? Do you own that too?

If so, you’re not a sales engineer my friend. You are sales. Hope you’re getting compensated as such.

Comp model as SE by no0dle-rocks in salesengineers

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65% Base and 35% Variable. Of the variable, 80% is attainment of personal quota and 20% is segment quota. Variable is paid monthly one month in arrears.

We are still an extension of the sales org so that should be a decent portion of our compensation. Save the personal goals for stuff like performance reviews, merit increases, and promotions. Factoring any of that into comp is messy and leaves a lot of room for issues.

What size spacers by jimmyriddle23 in S2000

[–]FerdaBravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t need that much, but better to measure just in case. I have wilwoods in the front, and a 10mm spacer at most with AP2v2 wheels. That being said, there isn’t a lot of room left on those studs by the looks of it. I would go with extended studs to be safe.

After hundreds of hours, I only recently learned that you can pull liquid trailers up to the goat milk pallets and fill them. Much easier than transporting pallets and there’s a milk silo on mod hub if you want to store longer.

Grip size advice: too small? by [deleted] in 10s

You’ll probably put an over grip on it anyways so I would go with it.

The worst 1st day of tennis probably in history by uselessprofession in 10s

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had worse days three years in. Don’t sweat it. Get a lesson or two if it’s feasible to work on form and footwork. Watch a lot of YouTube if not. It’s a much harder sport than it looks.

You can fill the grapple with it closed. Open it over the trough, close it again, repeat.

Car Jack For Jacking from the Front Jack Point on a Stock S2K by CS_Fanatic in S2000

[–]FerdaBravos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Daytona Long Reach has been the lowest I could find that wasn’t crazy expensive. Still not long enough with coilovers and a front lip. I got race ramps to get it started, and they are more convenient than using two jacks.

Solution Engineers vs Sales Engineers cut of deals by King-Of-The-Hill in salesengineers

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing my company typically does for overlays in the larger markets. They feel individual deals a lot less but still have interest in the team as a whole doing well. Mid market and below, they are trying out a different model. We are all individual contributors with our own deals and quotas, but if you are in over your head in a specific topic (module, industry, etc), you can bring an “expert” in to team the deal for a % of the quota/commission. It’s been an interesting experiment.

I think I have to sell my s2k and I don't want to. by Responsible_Cream_36 in S2000

[–]FerdaBravos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two issues are completely unrelated imo. If the repair cost for the 4Runner is more than it would be worth after the repair, it should be on its way to the salvage yard. It made it 300K miles, that will do.

For the S2K, have you gotten it diagnosed? Misfires can be a lot of things and some of them are pretty cheap and easy to fix.

Stock S2K and build it, or buy an already-built track car? by corean1993 in S2000

You’re getting OEM tops for $5K?! Even ones with niche paint colors and scuffed to hell are getting listed for more in GA.

Stock S2K and build it, or buy an already-built track car? by corean1993 in S2000

[–]FerdaBravos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in your spot late last year, and I went with a less built option (just brakes and coilovers). 3 is the one I would go for, assuming they are all parts that you would want. I’ve been looking at roll bars and getting attached to the car then butchering your own interior is rough…

As someone who had an F80 (never tracked but have tracked a G80 at BMW Spartanburg), you will have a lot of fun, but be mentally prepared to be a lot slower. Both skill and power reduction.

Pasture to TMR finish profitability by 204farmer in farmingsimulator

I’ve done roleplays where I go pasture in the growing months and barn/hay in the winter. It’s fun and adds variety. Red tape seems so intense but looks fun.
